We should be able to spend $20 and get...I dunno, 5000 acres.

or

Spend $20 and get an extra 500 turns.

In order to be successful, you really should take some ideas from Evony. They are having amazing success.

Do away with L:L, stick to 1:1, 2:3, etc. have someone teach you how to grab properly, change the language in the pacts to reflect this. If we could bring back grabbing, and not go to war over a few hit exchanges then the ghost ar will do it's thing.

it hasn't been discussed in any official manner, but I'm a big believer in free games where everyone is on a level playing field and you can't buy your way to the top.

Giving people one server intended for people to pay for any number of different style upgrades would make for some interesting new strats on that server while financing development on all the free servers. This could be applied to stuff way beyond merely paying for land...

Another way to incorporate it would be a server where it costs like 5 bucks to enter the round and then the winner takes half the money and the developers take half, something like that could be fun.

5000 acres can make quite a huge difference in networth, and 500 turns.... Pay to win, from netting and warring perspectives :P Lame.

Hmm, some more ideas from Evony.... Boobie ad campaign! Sex sells. I can see it now "Save the Empress, My Lord!" We just have to get Beltz to agree to pose in a bikini.

The old game had two turn bonuses and two acre bonuses and most players seemed to put up with that. However, as Pang said it has not been discussed in any matter.

Slagpit: They were much smaller, and it used to be possible to get them for free by signing up for stupid crap :) I guess a smaller bonus for donating could be more acceptable. What other things might people want to pay for? No ads, of course, but people can just block ads if they really don't like them. No captcha? Patron board! hehe

yea also signing on free crap got bonuses but it was very hard to get full bonuses w/o paying.

Here's a better idea then...

Have a link to a page (ingame) that is full of adds. If you click them all you will get X number of turns. Just like what Mehul did. We aren't paying, but we are adding funds to the game.

as many of others stated in here. if in a game you can buy advantage then the game is unbalanced and will loose players (me also). paying for a thing you can normally get will just hide your inability to obtain that thing and will make a difference between people who can / have money to spend on a game and the others who will play for fun. (those will stop playing)

if you have nothing better to do with your money, send me the cash and i'll let you hit me for 5k acres. i got better things to spend my money on

and about clicking the links. again, it will provide a huge difference between those who have nothing better to do than click some links all day and those who can't play the game mopre than a certain level. if revards will be too high, game will be seriously unbalanced and again, people will leave

I think MorT's mention of Evony illustrates the problem of pay to play games all too well....you end up with a small group of folks who are willing to shovel money into an online game controlling the play of everyone else in the game because they've stacked their advantages so high, no non-paying player can compete....regardless of skill level

I would be all for a pay-to-play server though. It's a good opportunity to put some money in the EE coffers, and would allow those who want to buy their way to victory the opportunity....not that I can see that being a large # of people

Google pulled their professional services from China due to a huge spike in hacker activity and ads coming out of Chinese ad placement servers that were loaded with viruses. By my understanding, they did so due to a belief that at least a portion of it is sponsored attacks from a Chinese competitor.
