anyone else remember when earth2025 ffa was new and clans had tank squads? LOL, My first squad in DWAR was a Heavy Tank squad.

OMG yes. We had tank divisions. They didn't last long after I joined MPE but yeah. We hadz them.

LOL, Dragon you know your an old timer in the game if you remember tank divisions/squads. I think they only lasted 1 or 2 sets at the most before they were considered a waste of turns.

for you newbies that don't know what a tank squad is, back in the early days of earth clans had groups of 4 to 10 players each that formed squads/divisions of the clan. Each group/squad/division had certian assignments in times of war. there were killing squads of jetters, troop killers, spy killing squads and there were tank squads who's job it was to AB the $#@# out of the top countries and those that did not have many tanks. The idea at the time was to do heavy damage to countries with a lot less turns than it took to kill them until the killers could get around to them. At that time DWAR had over 100 people in the clan but still fielded less than 1000 countries. My first set in DWAR I played 6 countries.

When I played and was allied to DWAR. I don't remember them being over 500 countries.

I didn't go tanks myself. I went jets. I cut my teeth doing retals.

Hell. When I started in MPE, I actually thought tankers were useful. I mean, more useful than they were.

Then can be useful.

LOL the fisrt set or two that DWAR was around it was only 200/300/400/500 like you said walding. I think we had 50/60 people at that time. POL was always on everyone to play more and more countries so as the set went on the tag was always growing in number. LOL she had me up to 160 countries one set. Before anyone starts up it was unlimited countries per player at that time.

definitely dont remember tanker squads lol, only remember being about 30 people in DWAR by the time i started playing, definitely had round the 1k mark on countries still though

I dont remember if USIMP had a tank squad back then. but I do remember the Blood Squad aka. Killer squad =D

PANLV having 4,000+ countries was fluffing insane. USIMP stayed together until they self-destructed in 2003 and split into SWAT and USIMP, I still have no idea who ran that incarnation of USIMP then, but I remember beating their asses in TNW with half the countries they had.

I called Polagra (Polgara) a "fluff", one set. (She really was, acting like one, IMO..) May have caused a riff in Ike's and her relationship, I think. Icron had to defend her... He told me to 'bring it'! DWAR were always tough warriors!
We FS'd DWAR. Icron told Pan to fire up their bot to kill NBK.. Our countries were toast, in about 24 hours.. LMFAO

We could have taken DWAR... I had under estimated Icron's influence in the game... By a lot!

I don't know about bots, DWAR was always strongly aginst them. We did have many players that could play a thousand countries by hand. Icron, xynx, snoop to name a few but there were others also like vic or rats. Yes rats played in DWAR a couple of sets. If you have a crew that can play countries by hand like that you don't need bots. But you are right in the fact that DWAR was at least as powerful in the politics of the game as they were in waring. I don't remember DWAR and NBK going at it. I do remember when NBK was a sub-clan of DWAR. The Tank squad days were way before there was a NBK. It was durring the early sets of the DWAR vrs TSE wars. Now those were wars. I have never seen anything like the DWAR vrs TSE wars since.

LOL, if Ikes and Snoops were bots they were not very good bots as most of their countries were very crappy little things that only got played every 3rd day unless they were at war. If I would have settled for playing my countries every 3rd day I could have run over 600 with no problem. Of course I played solo or in ESD the last couple of years of Earth 2025 so I don't know what may have been going on then.

I havent played since 1999 but i do remember the great wars. Used to be a part of TIE. Really organized group at one point, not sure about now. Im thinking about getting back into this.

LOL, AZZ I know that but if you ever seen these they were worse than the bot countries I had spied and killed at the time. Way worse. The lack of time on them showed. I know many times just to play their turns quickly they would get built to about 1k or 2k acers with farms and oil rigs then just cash all turns until they need turns to kill with. Playing them only every 3rd day. Think about it, log on cash all turns log out and play them only once every 3 days. How many could you play? Also I know at times they had help running them from other players. If someone was using a bot they would not need help from others to get the turns played. There were ways of running huge amounts of countries without a bot.

I beg to differ. I wont say too much, but I can assure you that there were several bot countries that out "netted" most netters. I actually have a copy of a bot that would tech start, convert, stockpile and even retal. Although, me and terry actually farmed the bot countries one reset (we didn't put in exception to our tag) and it retaled our netgainners (hard).

Also, you can use mIrco's to run countries or even multiple tabs and refresh.
