i dunno. do i need to own a Mac product to get a legal SDK?

bah, it'd take 50K up front just to get me to look at an iPhone for more than a 10 seconds. 100K to start programming for it.

i'll make both an iphone and android version if you guys are willing to pay 99 cents per download for it on the app store/android marketplace to compensate for the time needed to program it =)

i program android and iphone apps professionally already and have a macbook pro with valid apple dev account and everything already so it's just a matter of time and interest

tbh, 99c is such a small amount, i cant see anyone NOT paying it, provided the apps are well made :p

let's see, currently around 1k users @ 99 cents each. wonder how many hours hanlong would require to make a well made app.

hmm, are iphone apps digitally signed. wonder how much it costs per year just to sign an iphone app.

$99/year

android is much nicer than iphone =/

if it can't get 99 downloads in a year, i'd most likely pull it off the appstore

I'll play devils advocate here...

I haven't had to war via my Droid but I have used it for netting and had no issues with the mobile version of EE. If you were to develop an app for it, what would it offer over the mobile site to make it worth buying?

Though I'd be inclined to buy it just to support your work, to be honest.

i also need to know what is it that the admins would allow

u are right though i thought the mobile version suited me well. i'm curious to what HH wanted special from an iphone app too

A real time country news feed would be worth at least a $0.99 download to me.

If downloading the app got tied to an account so I did not have to try to decipher the Captures on my BB, well that would be worth extra.

Sadly, nobody writes BB apps for anything.

basically anybody who had a title before about 2005 is still using blackberry. anybody since then is iphone or droid

There's a lot of other background stuff that needs to be done in the game/game structure before the site is prepared to handle a mobile app interface, and which should certainly be a much higher priority than mobile apps.

Just my $.02

No, EE has a sub-domain with a site that has a layout geared generically towards mobile phones. This is far from a mobile app.

Well the mobile portal is okay I guess, but you need to zoom in and out and the menu could be better. An app would be much easier with better size on the text and the output formated for a smartphone. (Pushbacks would be sweet, when your goods have sold on the market, if you are hit etc, but that would have to be cleared with the admins I guess).

But another big reason was like I said the chance to attract new players. If there is an app on the android/iphone market, I think we could get more people trying this game.

i just installed the user.js in tampermonkey, an android greasemonkey app

seems the url's are wrong

but thats bound to be easier than making a whole app

really the mobile interface should be more like the user.js anyway though or at least an option to change it for mobile and normal versions

apple takes 30% of that 99cents so hanlong would get nly 70ish cents per download.

If the app would work well, I'll pay easily $5 for it... heck I buy little games all the time on my iPhone or iPad... why not pay $5 for something I play daily!

It would help me greatly in playing this game as I still not like to play it from my iPhone. And even the iPad is not as easy to play Earth from as I tend to make more typo's when buying or selling... :-)

So bring that app! :-)

Forget android, there is no money in it.

iOS app for $.99 or even $1.99 and you can rake in some extra direct cashflow.

also link it up to facebook as well and let the n00bs flow in and feed me landz

I agree, I would pay 5 bucks for the app, how many of us paid preimum membership to swirve. Would the admins allow somebody other then them to make an app and earn profit from their game though?

Anyway, iphone/android app would attract new players, connect it with facebook and we got n00bs to farm/recruit like back in the days :)

The advantage with an app would be that people who are browing the app markets would be able to find and try the game, people who otherwise probably never would find it on the web.

Would be nice if the game mods could comment. Would they allow hanlong to make the apps? I guess it could be a fair trade. hanlong earns some $ on the apps and in return the game hopefully gets more players.

Stole my thunder. ;-)
You would have hundreds of thousands of peeps looking in the Android app market under "Games". If there were an app, This place could explode.
The game itself is great for newbies now with all the "hints", "advise" for each action. Even telling you should join an alliance in the alliance server etc.
