My grandpa was a paratrooper in WWII, spent his life living with a bullet in his neck. Lived long and lived proud.

Bru is too modest. He also fails to leave out that he was in the spanish-american war.

Happy Vets day.

On another note, not every Vet is protecting their country. I can think of at least one war that is currently being waged that has nothing to do with protecting our country.

Support our troops. Bring them home.

Why? Are there specific days when we're supposed to forget that not everything our military does is actually in defense of our country or its interests? That not every vet actually deserves to be honored? It's November 12 now anyway.

yeah yeah u all picking on the old guy. just cause I have a signed pic of george washington.
love being a spy in the game, but was kinda a spy in our secret comm unit. we set up listening devices and crypto set ups.
one job was working on pres lbj's ranch. listened in on him and j edgar hoover for a week. that hoover besides being gay was nasty nasty nasty. I took a headset in the manhole, a 6 pack of coors and a fire extinguisher. used the extinguisher to keep the beer cold. but what I learned was very troubling at least to me.
but thats another story in another thread.

What are you talking about? Do you think that private Ryan randomly choses to defend or occupy a country because... whatever reason? This is the military you're talking about. They're disciplined, trained to do a job, someone gives them the job and they do it. They deserve respect.

Unless of course you're talking about some people who decide to detonate themselves in buses, trains or airplanes and call themselves soldiers, freedom fighters and martyrs. In that case I agree with you.

Private Ryan can think for himself. If he finds something is objectionable, he should, as an American, object to doing it. That is what this country is about. And that's what makes this country great.

What about vets who rape female soldiers? What about vets who rape civilians? What about vets who kill outside their mandate? What about vets who are just in it for the money and couldn't give a damn about your freedom?

Not every vet deserves to be honored. Some are upstanding people and deserve all the accolades they get. And some are just scum.

Private Ryan does think for himself. He enlists. He volunteers for service. Not sure in what century are you living, but in this one noone shanghais random men into service. (ok, North Korea; but even if they had the chance they'd still volunteer, they get food)

TAn , I'll tell you the same I told all the University Elitist that Podium run their political adgenda.

Pick 1.5 Million of your best undergrad students from the best Universities in the Country and after a year, or 4 years lets compare their criminal records with those of the 1.5 million military . So when you want to talk fluff talk about how evil or top Universities are cause those 1.5 million in Uniform will not come close to the records of those others.

That's just bad form, I'm sorry.

You cannot compare the greatest generation that has ever lived, to the squalor and decadence of our modern generation.

Oceana, something like 1 in 3 women in the US military get raped...by their own colleagues.

I'm pretty sure the ratio isn't that high in, well, any university.

Also, why are you separating military personnel from university students? Can a serviceman not get a degree or something? lol

TAn where would you get such a ludicrous stat to claim.

But both are of the same age group As even when counting the 60 year old generals the Average age of the military rarely goes above 21.

hmm, so that's why we raised the drinking age to 21. we don't want the alcohol to dissolve the military conditioning.
