does anybody know what happens when you deactivate a facebook account?

like, can your friends keep posting to your wall?
can people still request to be your fiend?
can people still send you messages?

Not a clue, dude. I'm not sure that I'm going to worry about it, either. I did learn that they allowed the hijacking of my email account once and it was used by spammers until I changed my password on my email account. NEVER let facebook, or any of it's apps have access to your email password. Apparently, some asshole there makes money selling your fluff to spammers.
I don't need anger management, people need to stop pissing me off!

i didn't use any of the apps that required an email notification, and kept turning off all the notifications that facebook wanted to email me. think somebody will notice if they attempt to hack my email password. facebook had very limited access to the computers that i used to check email, if any.

come to think of it, i don't even know my email password, but i might know where to go look it up.

What is the difference between deactivation and deletion?
If you deactivate your account:

Your profile (timeline) and all information associated with it disappears from the Facebook service immediately.
People on Facebook will not be able to search for you or view any of your information.
We save your profile (timeline) information (friends, photos, interests, etc.), just in case you want to come back to Facebook at some point. If you choose to reactivate your account, everything will look just the way it did when you left.

if you delete your account and relogin there under 6 months from deletion your account works normally then.

Oh, and the fact that facebook keeps all your photos, posts and info archived on their servers even after you "deactivate" your account doesn't scare any of you? :P

deactivation not deletion (although in facepalm's point of view deletion is deactivation).

Thats odd, I thought when you deactivate your facebook your whole page gets taken off the website.

Then again, I may be wrong, I have never done it before.
