What's more troubling to me is that no one (as evidenced by many posts above) seems able to discern the difference between the commentator sections of the news channels and the actual news portions. If we take everything Wolf Blitzer, Joe Scarborough, Mike Huckabee, etc said as 'news' and applied it to a fact-checker, of course it will come out inverted because these are commentators and not reporters.

As for children's programing, I see where the guy was going. And I don't doubt there is subtle political inferences because sometimes they don't hide the stuff (aka, changing the Cookie Monster to the Veggie Monster). And other times they do hide the removal, but it comes out anyway (aka for pg-13+ crowd, removing 'and the American way' from Superman's 'truth, justice and the American way'). But a true conservative would tell you that it's the parent's responsibility to monitor what their kids are watching and learning from these programs.

trumper: I know the difference, but many people do not. It isn't just Fox. But when the name of your channel is "XYZ NEWS" and yet you are airing non-news programming, it is inherently misleading.

We know not to take Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert seriously (even when they are incredibly informative) because they are on Comedy Central. ;)

Incidentally, NPR has this same problem as Fox News. There are some VERY liberal leaning shows on NPR and it reflects on everything. Just because Wait Wait Don't Tell Me rips into republican candidates doesn't mean that Marketplace is a liberal show. But much like with Fox News commentary vs. journalism the network that brings them together (NPR) affects both.

This isn't likely to change since many NPR affiliates are run by liberal folks who tend to put liberal leaning programs right alongside the news programs.

Fox News is awful but why do people let MSNBC off the hook? Its just as bad. I had the misfortune of having it on in front of me at the gym (the only time anyone watches MSNBC) and they dedicated a full half hour to Romney using hyperbole during the debate and "betting Perry 10,000 dollars" (he intended it to mean like "I bet you a million bucks", but it came out awkward cause he said 10,000). They then proceeded to put up graphics discussing how much Gingrich could buy at Tiffany's with $10,000. Are Americans really so stupid that we have to resort to this filth rather than debating policy? Don't answer that.

CNN is okay, its just like the other main stream media outlets in that its bias comes out in what it chooses to cover. It and other major outlets will gloss over stories that don't fit its liberal agenda and hammer anything that hurts Republicans.
