well the japanese has a lot of farm raised fish now to avoid killing off species of fishes that they love eating.

but while you can farm raise salmon, i dont think the same applies to whale...

Farm raised fishes eat bait type fishes, and they catch those at the sea, see redundant stupidity.

It takes 3#s of wild bait fish (herring, sardines, etc) per 1# of farmed salmon. Farmed salmon is full of toxins and disease (see recent ISA virus outbreaks in Canada) and cause nitrogen rich dead zones near their ocean pens from all of the waste. All of which effect wild fish negatively. Open pen aquaculture is a disgusting practice, and most closed system aquaculture isn't much better.

Fishing of fish or whales is an equation which doesn't add up :( The global demand for eating them is greater than their reproduction.

Which is why we have limited entry permits, seasons, and quotas.

To bad Japan's not allowed to have a Navy, then those pesky Sea Sheppard ships would be at the bottom of the ocean.

Hell if Japan had a real Navy you would be lucky to find much left alive in the sea
