i thought the last one was pretty good

some people claimed that where was some sort of time travel issue that it raised, but, meh... relax people enjoy the show!

No.

It went far beyond that. The movie didn't make ANY sense at all beyond the nonsensical time travel stuff. If they retitled it "Muppet Babies Star Trek" I would have been fine with the plot but as an actual entry into the series it was worse then Insurrection.

I've found the people who thought it was really good are typically people of low intelligence who would be entertained by a movie producer jingling his keys on the screen as long as it was in 3D.

Oh come on. We have been accepting the unbelievable since Star Trek first came out. You can believe in time travel but not that it can happen the way they portrayed. That's just being nit-picky.

Most all SciFi is unbelievable. I hate twilight yet I will give those that like it the option to pretend werewolves and vampires exist so they can have there sappy story they love so much.

I cannot believe it in the way they proposed because WE KNOW THATS NOT HOW BLACK HOLES WORK!

Calling Twilight SciFi is an insult to the genre, it's NOT. I feel like the goth kids on South Park when the douche vampire kids show up bogarting their style. Hollywood and Hipsters behind fluff like the most recent Star Trek and the Big Bang Theory need to fluff right the fluff off and stop destroying nerd culture.

No, black holes don't work that way. No, if they were at maximum warp they shouldn't have been able to eject their core and have it cinematically drift slowly back while they kept coasting forward at the event horizon before 'surfing' out. Yes, the ice monster was a bit silly. But you know what? It was an entertaining and enjoyable movie!

+1 UBer Bu...

We went to see it opening night with a large crowd, pretty much all "high IQ", so I don't know where that remark came from. Next to me was a female Physics grad from GT that now runs a Science dept... And you know what? We all enjoyed the movie.

Its a movie, not a documentary.

The movie doesn't make any sort of sense even with its own retard logic.

a.) why/how is a mining ship armed with 500 torpedo launchers?

b.) how is a supernova allegedly going to traverse the galaxy and hit Earth anytime soon when it is light years away?

c.) why would shooting a black hole in front of one spot of the supernova wave work considering it expands in all directions?

d.) if one drop of this red matter makes a giant black hole why exactly do you have a oil drum of it flying around in an unarmed unescorted ship?

e.) you have transporters and phasers but you parachute down to sword fight ....

f.) no military institution, even in fiction would make a field promotion of a cadet all the way to captain, much less make that a permenant promotion once the crisis is over regardless of events

g.) the flagship of star fleet is staffed by an experienced captain and the rest of the bridge crew = muppet babies fresh out of the academy...?

a) because it was Romulan!
b) I don't think that happened did it?
c) shadow effect? like a lunar eclipse?
d) haha, yes, this was kindof silly
e) there was supposedly tranporter interference; sword fight was silly though -- but cool
f) haha... yes... that part was kindof stupid
g) that was also silly
h) agreed!

What I don't understand is why someone with such an issue with things having to makes sense watches any SciFi movies. They all take huge artistic liberties that can be picked apart if you think about it to hard.

**spoilers from first**

A lot of the "conecpts" used in the film were concepts that were brought in to the film from the original series to continue on the cheese that is trek. Random swordfights, unknown redshirt guy always dies, kirk flirting with the green lady. The first film really wasn't supposed to make sense, its sole purpose was to create a new series where cannon wasn't important but still enough to keep the regular fans in check. I'm excited to see what they do with the second film and their plans with this new universe.

The problem is these aren't errors you have to "think about" they are just glaring in your face stupidities of the nonsensical plot. According to you people I should not expect a plot to make some semblance of sense

go to the thirties, forties and fifties if you want anything but cgi. nobody focuses on plot, or character development anymore. just shia labeuf screaming while a computer creates images after the fact.

it isn't just star trek.

I liked the first reboot so I'm pretty sure I'll like the next one. I never really got into any of the original Star Trek series/movies, probably because they didn't show them here while I was growing up.
