I'm really thinking about getting that phone. I use my smart phone more as an app machine/ txter than a phone. The extra screen size makes me very happy! I just wonder if it's hard to carry around?

I saw one; it was big; personally i'd still go with the galaxy nexus (i did go with it)(android 4! the note still ships with 2.x doesn't it?) or get the Galaxy S III which is either out now or out in a week or so

Like qz, I have a Galaxy Nexus. It fits in my pocket nicely and I can still stick my hand in there to pull it out. I have never stuck a note in my pocket but I imagine it would not be hard either. I am wearing cargo shorts right now so maybe I'd be singing a different tune if I was wearing jeans.

I purchased the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and the phone size for the display is kind of big for texting purposes unless you are always sitting down and not a true mobile user. The Galazy Note has a .3" bigger screen I do believe and makes it harder to type if you are walking/texting or always on the go. The Galaxy S 4.2" screen seemed perfect for doing massive texting while not doing typo after typo with the bigger screens. The Note is an amazing phone for the money, yet the 4.8" screen size would demand the screen rotation for the texting with both hands, unless your hands are the size of an apes.

Check out the HTC Raider... I have one and I love it to be honest. Nice big screen, fast... just make sure you get a good grip case for it because that screen is BIG.

i got the driod razr maxx, and the battery life is crazy long i charge it once every 2 days but then again i turn off data, but if i run pandora all day it last about 16 hours

The galaxy s3 is bigger than the razr, nearly as big as the note. The note is fluff because you can't use it on verizon. If you can't use it on verizon, it may as well not exist.

The nexus is cool because of ICS, but it only has a 5MP camera, wtf, dunno why. The Razr is supposed to be getting ICS as well as the bionic and the droid 4, but verizon keeps holding up the update for techincal reasons...

also, for the record, if you go to a verizon store you can get the razr for $100 with a $50 mail in rebate, if they say no, tell them to do it anyway.

Also you can get the nexus for $100 with no rebate if you try hard enough. everybody is getting rid of their old phones before the s3 comes out because its going to dominate the market until christmas when its expected that the new apple piece of fluff will be released

4.8"...weak.

I have had a Dell Streak 5 for 1.5 yrs now. So basically it's pretty weak in power/capability/etc compared to the new phones out, but the real estate is nice. :)

the note is an awesome phone. the only draw back I've seen with it is that the AMOLED screen will burn just like the old computer monitors did if an image was left on it to for long. This is a problem across all AMOLED screens not just the Note.

Man, this thread comes at a perfect time for me, lol. After 8+ years as a corporate crackberry addict that has never paid a phone bill, I'm suddenly faced with the prospect of having to buy a phone for myself. My brother is a droid guy that has flipped back and forth between Samsung and HTC, wife is an iPhone ho. I'm leaning towards an android.

Oddly, I trust you guys way more than cnet . . . and I'm cool with that.

yea, galaxy nexus is super awesome; but the galaxy s3 is the way to go because it's the same just updated, and with more features; maybe less pure google, but still; also it's coming out like... right around now

I love my motorola atrix. I'm a little saddened by what I see with the atrix 3. I'm actually leaning towards a windows phone for my next phone. I think windows 7.5 is looking nice, and if they actually improve it to windows 8, it could be a huge deal. I love the customization of the android OS though. It's kind of a tough choice.

Lrn2smartphone.... My maxxs last a max of like 8 hours before they're dead. I say maxxs plural as i have multiple. My other phones are good for 3-5

i got a white one from verizon on launch day and i fell in love with it. the hd screen is crispy clear and there are so much things you can do on it...you should def get it..

it is not that big..it fits in my back jean pocket just fine....

I didn't like the original note, but something about that Note2 is pretty sweet, it seems like a better shape/size.

I got the SG3 and wish I had the note. would make my NES emulator more fun :)

I have the Galaxy S3 and it's amazing as a smartphone. If you want a tablet, go for a Nexus 7. It's got a very nice form factor.

The Note 2 has a larger screen and smaller overall size than my last phone. I'm getting one whenever I decide to plunk down the $300+. Definitely get the insurance on this one.

The Note 2 is better than the S3...isn't there an S4 or something better coming out soon anyway? I'd wait for that rather than get the S3 now. And the Note 2 isn't a tablet, the Nexus 7 is.
