on a side note I'm really liking this computer

i can upgrade the battery for 12 hours which will be bad ass for going to school etc who needs a plug ha =p

also one downside to this computer is that its usb ports are in the back and it only has 2 of them, but its a ultra book and thats what im looking at now with in my price range. one that also has a cd drive

samsung makes a better one i think ha this is fun looking around etc

I would recommend any dell laptop within your budget, plus 150$ for 3 years accidental warranty. No matter if you spill coffee on it, run your car over your laptop, or even throw it out the window.. they'll fix it. That is if you plan to keep the laptop for three years or more.

Better than the new Macbooks. They soldered everything down AND the battery is glued on. Once you buy a Macbook you better go all the way since you won't be able to upgrade once you've paid for it.

No matter what you buy though-

Usually laptops come with 1 year warranty. Buy it on a credit card that doubles your warranty (all amex and check on your other cards). The Amex warranty is amazing, just send it back to them they fix it or they refund your full purchase price.

amex has warranties like that? I have an amex and haven't seen anything about that...

maybe i need to find out what stuff i qualify for...

they have a lot of different benefits. you can take out your cardholder agreement or search online or call a csr and ask. amex ones are fairly consistent (at least for buyer protection stuff) across the board, but visa/mc etc depend on the card issuer

there's also one that's like free accidental damage protection. i remember buying a smartphone a while back, dropped it, called them and instead of sending it back (because of all the broken glass) i just took pictures of it and they gave me a full credit

also return policy ones. like if the store doesnt take a return on a product on a certain time frame you can return it directly to amex up to a few months later i believe. i used to do this with textbooks in college as the bookstore did not accept returns
