on a micro SD that can't be detected by PC, laptop or phone.

I dropped my phone and the impact was near where the SD card was.
I think the drop loosen the card. Then I found out that the phone can't detect it even after inserting it back properly.
Checked with my laptop and other devices too.

Anyone knows how to recover the files? Software recovery don't work if card is undetected.

If the connectors are somehow broken you need a professional to try and recover the data from the actual memory chips inside the card. Probably very expensive :(

there are several companies which do datarestoring but it costs hefty sum.

Why is it that an ant can fall off a table and be just fine, yet when someone drops a miniSD card (protected by the phone it's inserted into) onto a random surface, the miniSD card becomes instantly useless?

because it is flash memory and the weight of the phone crushed the sd card on impact?

I really don't know why the sd card was damaged.
The impact loosen the card a bit.
Might have been a voltage surge during the impact? I dunno.

I would have thought the SD card would have fit into the phone, so you would have to push on it to get it out. The SD card shouldn't have been sticking out. Some phones even have a little removable cover that goes over the SD card slot.

I know you're NukEvil, but I can't tell if you're trolling or not.

A bare SD card being dropped from any height would survive just like your ant would. Both are not very dense compared to the air around it, and the SD card is going to tumble due to its shape. This means they have both low terminal velocity and low inertia, so there isn't a lot of energy to dissipate once it hits the ground.

Put this SD card in a phone, and now you have to deal with a connector that looks something like http://www.digikey.com/...3D-SF/HR1941TR-ND/1786510 holding the card and sandwiched tightly against the case, circuit boards, display glass, and whatever else is inside the phone. Terminal velocity and inertia are both higher, and the components are likely to come loose or at the very least flex on impact. This could in turn flex the SD card, cracking the die of the FLASH memory or popping one of the bond wires loose. A cracked die is a lost cause, bond wires or contact pads can be attached with the right microscopy and soldering tools.

My SD card gave up the ghost 12 days into my 14 day tropical vacation, and suddenly became unrecognizable. I was devastated. When I got home I looked up data recovery services in my area, and ended up speaking to the lab that does forensic data recovery for the RCMP (Canadian equivalent to the state police) in my area. They recovered 90% of the data in just a couple of days, and it cost me just under $60. Well worth the price.

They only deal by mail through a post office box, so that no one knows where they are - so there was a bit of waiting time on either end. But still, I got almost all of my pictures back. Definitely worth a shot.
I cannot see your signature - so if it's witty, put it in a post instead! :p

take the card out completely and pop it in a good card reader (Hama readers work fine as a "one-off" most of the time for me with broken cards/cards with dodgy connectors)
unless you REALLY mistreat it, its not the card that usually gets buggered, its the contacts on the card that shear with the shock of the weight of the phone/camera pushing on them

dunno. the Micro whatsitcard for my phone ended up breaking in 1/2 one time when i was taking it out, or putting it back in. tiny little thing. needed an adapter just to plug it into my computer. i make sure everything on SD cards are backed up soon as possible. to me they're more like use once and throw away devices, though mine still work. reminds me, i have to backup my D2LOD characters before i lose the changes to them.
