It's not a matter of FA or skill, it's a matter of the game being broken. The game badly lags the defender if the attackers hit fast enough. That's the only thing that matters in the end.

The defender is getting lag from all incoming attacks... unless you hit with one country at a time the lag should be different.

I would suspect it is because defenders are navigating multiple menus (main screen, market, private market, cash/explore) that require large pages to be sent to the client, while the attackers are prepared ahead of time and just have to click 'Attack again' which has a very small packet size of data to send to and from the server.

Avg page weight is about 100 Kb. Lets say its 500 Kb to be sure. so, you need 500KB/sec connection to load it in 1 second. Im pretty sure almost all progressive countries has such connection.
And navigation by menus isnt lag. Its just time to load. Pages needs some time to load. Idk about you, but i need about 1 sec to load page. Plus about 1 sec to select. And so on - you need about 10 sec to load market/purchase pages.
