ok. i CONNNNNNNNNSTANTLY see people one-upping my SOs.

like, i'll have a SO in for $2500 tech. someone else comes along and puts in an SO for $2501 and is like "aha"

no. nope. anyone selling for $2500 or under, i still get first dibs on. anyone selling for $2550, neither of us gets. the ONLY scenario in whcih your "outbidding" of me does anything is one in which someone comes and sells for exactly $2501. that's it

or food prices. i bid $40. you bid $41. unless someone sells $41 food, that's not helping you. either bid $40 like me or go whole hog and bid $50 or something. y'know?

it's not like selling. like, with selling, if ive got my stuff on the market first and you undercut by $1, it will be your goods at the market at the lowest price, and your goods that will sell first. maybe that's where people get the idea. but it's not like that

I'm pretty sure the one-upping isn't a misconception.

People want to pay the minimum on the market which is why the $1 occurs. Even though you are cut out of everything except that price point very often tech is sold at the standing order thereby cutting out the bottom SO and allowing you do get it at basically same price.

I also like to make SO's only buying 1 unit that 1 up low SO's in the hopes that if an idiot actually sells that low I'd rather it hit the market than get taken by the flipper

If I'm a seller and I see there's people bidding for $2501, I will sell my goods for $2501, why sell it for $2500 when you know someone is gonna buy it at $2501? The only mystery here is how much goods is that particular buyer willing to buy .

I always sell for higher than SO's because someone will still buy it
