bought a latptop for my father that had 10 installed. Played with it for a bit and it was good. i liked the layout. As far as bugs, most likely there will be at launch.

I havent run into any bugs yet... but there are some reports of Chrome crashing with it...

and if you use defaults then use shutup10.

games with some copyprotections won't work.

adapters might not work (not even if it worked in win7).

There are some networking issues with machines and devices running older windows versions, but there was a huge and long duration beta - so hopefully not too many bugs.

I wish I still had my parents chest stereo. It had a radio, lp player and 8 track player with recording. You could make a mix 8 track or even go lp to 8 track. Was bout eight feet long too

Windows 10 is mostly pretty good. There are a few Microsoft programs that you can't uninstall, like Onenote and Onedrive, but thats not such a big deal. I have an annoying glitch in the Date and Time settings; I live in Atlantic Standard Time and Windows has the time in that zone set wrong so my computer clock is aways 1 hour behind the actual time. Even if I turn off my geographic location setting and manually change the clock, it still reverts to the wrong time. Bloody yanks obviously don't care about us Canadians here in the Maritimes :)

Windows 10 is snappy and quick on my ancient laptop, that has been beaten half to death. I like the look of it, it's clean and simple, and I like the feel of it as there is a lot of focus on providing media experiences and the integration with the XBOX for gaming and such is very, very seamless.

A few weeks ago I upgraded my HTPC to W10 (really Windows 9 but lets not go there).

I've seen some issues with the default player (appears to be WMP like) playing movies. Any buffering will cause the audio to go out of sync. Does not happen with VLC.

Other than media streaming, haven't used it all that much.

1) whats the best OS to run a XBMC thing off of?

2) does anyone have a spare copy of windows 7 they don't need?

3) if i've gotta buy windows 7 where is the cheapest place?

and screw microsoft for stopping support/updates for XP :(

The best OS I've ever used was called CTOS, it was made by a company in Santa Monica California called Convergent Technologies. They got bought out by Burroughs Corp, which is how I got my hands on it.

It did everything today's modern OS's do back in the mid-80's. It even featured some additional things that really made it rock.

The most outstanding of these was that if you had a power failure and your system got dumped, when it re-initialized, it would restore the system to within a few keystrokes of where you were when the lights went out.

It was rock solid, and I'd never seen it crash, even on the old Sperry PCs.

I broke it trying to make a desk top shortcut from the start menu the other day. You might have driver problems ... My laptop did and was a pita to fix.

Otherwise it's nice and fast
