Oh, and you wanted me to show the work?

<script>
/********************************************************
******************Created by Celphi**********************
******************March 19 2016**************************
********************************************************/

var group1, group2, total;
group1 = 0;
group2 = 0;

var group3, group4, index, indx, num, number, count;
count = 0;
var s = [];
var t = [];
var u = [];
var w = [];

group3 = 0;
group4 = 0;
s = [111];

// find all numbers which give a sum of 111
// generates #s for group 3 and group 4
for (group3=0;group3<99;group3++){
for (group4=0;group4<99;group4++){
if (group3+group4 == s[0]){
t.push(String(group3)+ String(group4));
}
}
}

// adds 0s to single digit numbers
function addZero(num){
if (num<10)
num = String('0'.concat(num));
else
num = num;
return num;
}

function cycle(number){
// 13-98 range for group 3 & 4
// Find all #s which subtract to give 13-98
for (group1=0;group1<99;group1++){
for (group2=0;group2<99;group2++){
total = group1-group2;
//if (total >= 13 && total <= 98){
if (total == number){
group1 = addZero(group1);
group2 = addZero(group2);
w.push(String(group1)+ String(group2));
}
}
}
}

for (indx=13;indx<99;indx++){
cycle(indx);

for (index=0;index<w.length;index++){
document.write(w[index] + t[indx-13] + ' ' + count + '<br>');
count++;
}
w = [];
}

// w = group A|B|C|D
// t = group E|F|G|H

</script>

It would be 3740, but all the variables could be equal to 0., thus it's 3741.
The output I have is ABCDEFGH
So 13001398 is
A=1
B=3
C=0
D=0
E=1
F=3
G=9
H=8

13

You can run the code in your console to see all the combos. The number off to the side of the 8 digit number is a counter.

If you don't know how to work your console, then just copy paste the code into the HTML section on https://jsfiddle.net/ and hit run.

Each variable is a single number, you can't have A and E and P all equal to 1.

And what kind of Grade 1 student is suppose be able to program?

Shrug. IDK.

Also,.. where does it say A, E & P cannot all equal 1? It's an easy fix.

And each digit does equal 1 digit.
You have 8 variables. And my program displays 8 digits. The 9th variable is always 1 except in one instance. I could make it post A= B= C= blah blah blah,... I just made it as a 8 digit string instead to make easier to read.

ABCDEFGH

// if the 0th or 4th index = 1 then don't output it to screen
if (charAt(0) ==1 && charAt(4) == 1){
// place document.write (statementhere)
}

Celphi Game profile

AB
CD
-----
EF
GH
------
PPP

I can explain how to do it by hand. You basically have to treat AB|CD|EF|GH as a 2 digit number. You only separate them at the end.

P =000 works when all variables are 0.
P=111 works
P=222 cannot work because 99+99= 198 which are the max values for EF|GH

So that leaves you to solve for 111.
Now that you know the sum is 111, that now means you have to find all the solutions of EF|GH that equal 111. The range goes from 12->99. (99 is the greatest number either EF|GH can ever be, and 99+12=111).

So you get all the possibilities: (PART A)
EF+GH
12+99
13+98
14+97
ect....

Once that's complete. You then have to find solutions for each of Part A solutions:
Find every solution in which you subtract two two-digit numbers that give you 12, 13, 14, 15 ect.... (basically EF)

When you do that., you get all the solutions in which my program posts.

Math is a farce anyway. There are ALWAYS more than one possible solution / variable for addition.

It really all depends on WHAT you are adding.
