I spied a certain player at 17:26 (Apr17):
turns left 5, turns taken 1781, turns stored 0.

I then nuked said player 25 times from 17:27 to 17:29.

I spied said player again at 17:53;
turns left 17, turns taken 1781, turns stored 0.

Turns given at 17:28, 32, 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, for total of 7.
5+7= 12 not 17.

Someone prove me mistaken.

turns on hand only update when a player logs in. until then it displays the turns the player had upon the last logout.

he logged in when you nuked him

Said player could have spent 10 bonus points to get those 5 extra turns
or
what mrford suggested.

Which is more plausible?

Which rouses me to ask how accurate is what ford said and by what means he comes to know this arcana?

what i said is 100% correct

whether this is what happened in your instance, i do not know enough information.

but if a player logs out with 0 turns, and you op his country hours after he logged out, he will still have 0 turns in the spy op. it will show 0 turns till he logs back in.

you can test this yourself if you want. i know this because i have played this game too long. specifically, i know this because it is one of the indicators we use in clan servers to know if a target we are killing has logged on to wall or not. i have used this thousands of times probably.

take my answer or dont. you cant complain that you dont know as much about the game as vets if you dont ask questions. every single game ever made is like that.

K.. so here are my next questions.

Do the admins/game designers play?

It's quite a relevant question as those that know the actual game formulas have a huge edge, since this is after all an optimization problem albeit a bit tedious, a.k.a. a solid base for game theory analysis. Deducing in reverse however is much more difficult.

How prevalent is cheating?

Including perfect information abuse by admin if possible by design, player collusion, etc.

How prevalent/possible is hacking earth?

Any prior cases?

Enlighten this fool please. Thanks.

how often are the game formulas changed/tweaked with.

you are asking for a summary of 20 years, lol. and im on a cell phone.

the admins used to play, they are fairly inactive now.

i have never been an admin and i know most of the formulas

cheating is in every game, this game has had many battles with it which are too extensive to talk about here, but i dont think it is a big deal now

hacking has happened, but swiftly dealt with. honestly, who wants to hack this dying game anymore?

all game changes are posted on the announcements board. they dont happen much anymore.

if you want to learn, join a clan on the alliance server. then join their third party hosting site and their IRC chat rooms. and then ask a ton of questions. the information isnt a secret. ask.

Several years ago, that exact project was undertaken. A wiki with the rules all in one place. The admins unfortunately chose the wrong people to do it and it died after about two months with nothing accomplished. I hate the people who volunteered to run that wiki, fought against another group of volunteers to get it done and then let it die. They were all talk and no action and this game suffered its death blow. Had the admins chosen different people to run the wiki our game would be prospering. That is the source of my vitriol against some on the forum.

A competing group for the wiki?

From what I recall the wiki was free to modify for everyone. QZ and I put in work setting up and linking base pages for people to edit till emopit raged out on me for an IRC issue and I stopped, and a bit later GE took over. Then emopit raged out on GE a year or so later and he quit. No one stepped up after that.

I would be interested to hear your story. I recall some trolls being banned because they were maliciously editing the wiki, but nothing more than that. Maybe you are talking about a more recent spat that I don't recall.

I'm starting to think that you are either Gregg or Lincoln more and more every day. They were 2 of the banned. And that would be hilarious.

normal servers since last bonus turns gotten its 3 turns every 12 hrs and 3-6 turns every 18 hrs (latter if has been away 18 hrs since last bonus turns), in express its every 4th hr for 3 and every 6th hr for 3-6 turns (latter if login is 6 hrs later when last time got bonus turns).

you can check past scores since start of earth2025 to end of earth2025 in wiki just by clicking earth2025 history, if you want to read happenings then you are bit out of luck unless you want to read walls of texts.

In answer to the question, "How about the wiki, any real solutions?"

Three solutions have been tried in the past.
One, the most logical and easiest. Post the rules on the forum.
Have a thread where experienced players post the arcane rules that new players will not know.
This does not work because the usual suspects hijack the thread and turn it into insults and gay porn.
Warster does not protect these threads because he wants to use Express as a recruiting tool for the lesser servers.
Warster feels he should be paid $25 an hour to moderate the forum so nothing ever gets done. He is burnt out after years of service. Burn out happens and Warster should not be blamed for what is a natural phenomenon.
The usual suspects hijack the threads not just because they have personality disorders but also because they want to recruit new players who are hooked on Express to play the inferior games. Hence the forum has never been a place where the rules are posted.

Second, the wiki. This has failed because the people who run the clans do not want the rules up where new players can find them so they deliberately sabotage the dissemination of information through non clan channels. After some players were caught cheating across multiple servers in the greatest cheating scandal of all time, five players asked the mods if they could run the wiki with respect to Express but the mods said that the wiki has to have clan info and they could not turn it over exclusively to solo server players. The five were unwilling to work with cheaters so even though players were temporarily banned from playing Express and banned from posting on the forum they still controlled the wiki.

Finally and this solution worked for two or three years until the GOAT quit playing. Have a third party site where the rules are explained in detail and the usual suspects and burned out mods are not allowed to participate. This is how I learned the details of the game. This third party site is also a much better place to propose and hash out rule changes far from the nonsense of the negativists. The site has not been used in years, is down now and would be obsolete anyway since it does not include details of the new bastardized GDI. If you set up such a site and could get xninja, beerdrinker, drkprince and celphi to participate, you would have an excellent and complete grasp of the rules. These guys individually are not always right because even they sometimes do not understand the difference in rules across servers and some of them do not fully understand this GDI but as a group they would get it right. This site needs to be kept exclusive or otherwise it deteriorates into the forum. When a new player joins the server or starts posting, send him an in-game invite to your site.
Good luck if you decide to go this route.

Marshal,

You are one of the most knowledgeable players in the game. I would love to know what part of this you disagree with.
The only thing I can think of is that you disagree with my speculation that some clan members do not want the information available through non clan channels. I may be willing to walk that back but it explains a lot of the behavior we see.
Otherwise everything else is just a factual rendition of the state of the game.
Of course, the thread highjackers came out immediately with no constructive suggestions as I predicted but one need not be Carnac to make that call.

Hahahahaha express is the lesser server, it was always going to be used as the intro server to the game for beginners as clan server are more advanced.

Plus I don't recruit for ffa or alliance at all, as the tags I play in are invite only or must have a current member vouch for them.

As for the payment to mod , you completely edited what I said for your own purpose. I haven't been a full time active mod for like 2-3 years,, I'll look at stuff if someone brings it to my attention but that's as far as I go,

Now run along and come up with something new.

nothing in that post was useful for the questions he asked at that point.

so you hijacked the thread to continue your personal battle with select members of this community

then everything you posted in your long rant is a load of crap, no rules are kept from players by the clans, exact strats and such are, which is fair enough since all players/clans are competing with everyone else and no player/clan is going to give away their own secrets to netting and warring.

outside of Admins only GE , Azz Kikr and Ford have been Wiki moderators and i dont believe any of them have been banned for cheating on any server during EE.

any one reading this can see he posted the question before my answer.

Let us stick with trying to solve the new member's question.
If somebody starts a thread outlining the rules specific to Express, will you protect the thread or will you allow the usual suspects to drag it down into their typical depravity. I should probably not be the one to start the thread because...
but if someone else began the thread would you defend it?

Ahh, I'd G-line people from the IRC server before we shared it with the rest of the alliances--sometimes as a joke, sometimes because you really shouldn't annoy the person that can do that to you. My little incident on the Heads board was pretty much the straw on the camel's back.

Slagpit no longer wanted me to have oper access to Evo's IRC server, Anoniem just wanted me gone completely, and the general consensus of the rest of that thread in Evo's most exclusive Leader board was about the same. So, I stepped back and let it happen. Soon after I left, I made Anoniem eat his words when LaF FSed EVO for the third or fourth time in about as many resets. About a year later, another leader asked me if I wanted to come back, and I told them I was through dealing with alliances. I even landkilled one of their noobs a couple days ago. Now there's only like 8 of them left. Sad.

Sadly I can confirm almost all of that as fact.

I turned his name to turdburglar insite for a set!

quickly scanned this nonsense...
moot - all formulas are available to all players. developers don't really play, and never finish well when they do, so looks like your theory about unfair advantage is irrelevant and struggling.

if you have any formula or strat questions, just ask.

also, i'm assuming you were nuking that country as a retaliation ... not just to be a goon
