I have never even broke 50 million.

70 mill is extremely tough to get. without outside interference it is possible. last set I was set for 60 mill plus. but then I got roofed by a heavy Dr all jetter dictator. there is no way for me to stop that. every round I do try to get #1...and of course the nw record lol, but it is extremely difficult and market conditions need to be played right.

I think anything over 50M is god tier. I keep trying for it lol.

let's just settle that gerdler got lucky and is good player and let him have his record since its quite unlikely that it gets passed.

If you run a perfect techer and manage to stock with reasonable expenses your finish nw is basically proportional to tech prices and inversely proportional to bushel prices during stocking. Tho sometimes you can benefit from extra low military prices as well.

That set everything was perfect except I had to run extremely high defence because I was being spied by one or two top feeders. The tech prices were some of the higher ones, tho I have seen higher, and bushels stayed low all through stocking.
I have played better techers than that in that I reached higher tpt or same tpt faster but not managed to get as high nw because either tech prices or bushel prices were different or I got hit one or more times either because I was underdefended or because someone really wanted to ruin my set.

all different eras with different nw changes.

one thing has remained though - the difficulty to put up 4 big ones in a row. i think only one player has pulled that off, ever!

There are no greats playing currently. The current rule set does not allow for greatness. Even if someone were to accomplish the unthinkable say 70k acres or $100M net worth, that wont compare to the giants of the past who killed ffa clans by playing Express, who hacked web sites and who somehow led multiple players to cheat across multiple servers and published the cheaters' mantra, whose misdeeds resulted in the stultified, mummified remnant we play today.

No way to compete against those accomplishments right now.

But there is hope. If true AI, i.e. a massive data dump which allows the bots to make up their own strats, comes along then maybe the game can return to a modified form of its former glory.

Hah, it's going. Management position and PD coursework are taking up most of my time these days. The remainder goes to the wife, and sleeping.
