I gotta wonder about this. There's something fishy going on, and I want to know what it is and how it works. Has someone discovered a bug they aren't sharing?

Depends on several factors:

Did they attack with less than 1/3 of their military? Or 1/3 of special attacking unit?
Were they a Commie from start to finish? Or can they, or did they convert?
How many missiles do they have?
Do you consider a spy op as an attack?

THe basic formula is a minimum of 7% readiness lost per attack. I believe you can't attack with a readiness below 20%. (Even though you can go below it). What I mean by that is, if you were at 21% and attacked, you could go down to 14% since 21% > 20%.

No, he had to use all his military of whatever type of attack he did, whether it was GS or AB
Several Missiles,
Start to finish Commie
He didn't have many missiles, and no, I'm not considering a spy attack as an attack, only those that appeared in the news.

256 attacks in like 2 days on express... what's surprising about that? It ends up taking the same amount of turns to attack as any other government except demo's. Nothing surprising here.

Well it's easy to calculate.
Assuming no missiles.

7% per atk
4% gained per turn.

Thus 3% lost per two turns.

80/3 = ~26 attacks per 80% readiness. (52 turns)
4 * 20 = 80% readiness (20 turns).

so...
256 attacks

round 1 --
52 (230).

round 2 --
20
52 (204)

round 3--
20
52 (178)

you probably see the pattern.

round[3] * 26 = # of attacks[78]

num_of_turns = ((round - 1) * 20 ) + (52 * round)
# = ((3 - 1) * 20 ) + (52 * round)
# = 2 * 20 + (52 * 3)
# = 196 turns is right.

So in your question
rounds = 256 / 26 = 9 rounds

= ((round - 1) * 20 ) + (52* round)
= ((9 - 1) * 20 ) + (52 * 9)
8 * 20 + (468)
160+ 468= 628 turns

I could do it in 627 turns.

if counting missiles too it can go down to 2 turns per 'attack' obviously.

I'll have to post the timeline then. Nevertheless, 256 attacks seems unlikely since by any reasonable count it would take 512 turns to accomplish, right? Now, the game has limits to the number of active turns you can have, right? And it's like 300 and 300 saved, right? So, in a timeline of less than 24 hours, this player ran 256 attacks in his or her first assault.

The battle continues apace anyway. :)

360/360

Bonuses can also add turns on top of the 360 if they are used before the next turn is given. Example, you have 360 with 360 saved up, then you are given your 6 bonus turns, it'll give you 366/360. As long as you use those six by the time the next turn is granted you won't lose them.

With turns saved you get 30 turns an hour + 360 turns. Works out to 1080 turns over a 24 hour period... even if you assume it wasn't 360 turns saved, that's still more than enough for 512 turns to attack.
