I was calling out people's alts 5 or 6 years ago, suggesting the admins get rid of the ability to create them. I got asked to stop calling out those alts. Now we have ASCII alts that show up as sex emoticons, tiny piles of poop, and other unsavory objects in my mobile browser. Just yet another rock on the massive mountain of "I TOLD YOU SO" as my existence here continues to be justified.

At one time some players using alt accounts (dibs) were able to use them in a way that was at least amusing. Now, for the most part, alts have simply become a way to post insidious nastiness anonymously or as a way to circumvent forum bans. Most other forums ban them outright and punish people that create them - the EE forums seem to almost encourage them.

One user, one account, one forum name. I'll gladly give up mine - but its time for the alts to go away.

But yes, good point. New players - and/or players who could be better, but are stuck in their ways - generally do not like being told when they are wrong in a derrogative way. :P
