That is funny, he has been playing Primary now for about 2 years from what I could see in the history. Can't believe he doesn't understand the retal window in Primary is the whole set. This became apparent to me after my second set in Primary. lol

So demoralize reduces readiness by 5% each successful op, but an EM missile only drops it 2% each successful missile right?

Humanitarians limits you to 1/4th the size of players around your networth. You can't hit people who are above or below 1/4th of your own networth in Primary.

Grabbing fatter targets also helps, not just grabbing more countries. Just looking at the eestats history, you grabbed 61 times and I have grabbed 50 times. Yet you are only ~500 acres of land ahead of me. In comparing this with the top 10 guys though, it appears that neither of us grabbed enough countries.

I take it to mean that you cant coordinate your harmful attacks in an effort to destroy or severely weaken an opponent. If your stepping in to help your ally GS/BR/AB or spy attack and the country has done nothing to you prior, its playing as a team.

What i am fuzzy on is, say this guy hits both you and your ally. Can you plan your own attacks against him, which happen along with your allies in the same day, or do you have to wait until your ally is finished for a day or two before starting your own?

He might not even be your ally. Say your looking at the news and you notice some random guy you have no affiliation with is pounding the same guy you had planned to try and kill. Can you still send your own attacks, or do you have to wait for him to be done for it not to be considered a coordinated kill run?

Or, if your defensive ally gets hit by someone who also hit you earlier. Can you send your defensive ally an offensive alliance to help him retal the guy back?

I agree, its kind of a grey area, so that is why I am asking for some clarification.

He proceeds to AB me Until I could buy more tanks than him. Luckly I had switched to MBR before he started doing most of his damage. So I was able to buy up tanks for cheaper than what he was getting them for and soon had more than him. To which he proceeded to try and GS me instead. From what I noticed, land only seems to be a big networth factor at the beginning of the set when countries are smaller. If you get too much of it, without having the military to defend it, then it will be taken from you. Once you are buying 100,000 jets/turrets at a time, the networth contribution of land is a much smaller piece of the pie. Although it can help you generate more money which can help buy more networth through military/tech.

Its a balancing act between spending turns gaining land, gaining money, and spending that money on things that help your country grow and at the same time help defend the land you have.

Isn't the 6mil initially purchased the stock that had been sitting there the whole set building up? Your initial buyout of the private market would be higher than the rest because of all the military that has been accumulating throughout the set so far. After that its only buying out what can be replenished in a day.

I have over 500k spies and I have been failing multiple times in the past 3 days to just spy into countries with 100-200k spies. I just figured its my bad luck.

To top it off Rockman, if that country is smaller than you, not only does he get a good chance to succeed even though you have a better SPAL, but the damage he does will be far beyond what you can do back to him in the same number of turns. At least that is what I have encountered dealing with harmful spy ops.

I tried stocking some food a little early, until the middle of last week. But I was required to convert it to cash and spend it after getting hit by a middle feed to get my land back. He probably didn't do a market spy and see the pile I had up for sale.

A good defense can be having a solid offense. You don't have to attack anyone, but if your packing enough jets to break the top countries, most probably are not going to hit you.

Techers are netters too! Well, some of them anyway.. But your right, they are not so good in a war and suffer heavy setbacks.

Techers are probably the easiest to quickly get a bunch of tech into warfare and gain missiles. So that may be a reason to keep to a 1:1 retal policy, unless you can get good SDI protection.

I agree with oldman, not something I would try if I was netting. I imagine it really pisses people off losing that much in one grab.

Not sure what battle calculators you saw, but some of them out there didn't seem very accurate to me.

Here is one I came up with in a google spreadsheet document:
https://docs.google.com/...V5UUllQ09rTi0xME9aaUFLdnc

You will need to go to "File > Download As > Excel" to save your own copy as the one linked is a read only. All five calculator pages are the same, so you can plan out 5 attacks at the same time.

Military is probably your biggest networth contributor, however some tech is also not a bad way to gain net without having to go all military and have high expense costs to go with it.

Tech = 2 NW each point (if the Wiki is still correct).

Troops = 0.5 NW each
Jets = 0.6 NW each
Turrets = 0.6 NW each
Tanks = 2 NW each
Spies = 1 NW each

Most of them are in GDI and single tap. Two of them decided to get greedy though. The one that succeeded in getting through got missiles in return. I am not sure if he is planning on sending missiles back at the guy who failed three times though.

He understands that attacking is part of the game and is forgiving of the people who only hit him once. He is just a bit frustrated that he can't seem gain land anymore right now because every time he does it all gets taken back the same night. I suggested he just focus on buying Business/Residential/Weapons tech and jets and stop attacking for now to get land thin.

And yes, even though he will be playing from a different city 80% of the time (except on holidays and when he visits), we are safelisted for that 20% of the time we may play from the same house. Unfortunately this means we cant be allies :(

Sometimes what I will do to save a turn spying is to spy into their relations, then do a search on their defensive allies to get their networth. Once I have their networth, i will go back and review my old spy reports (I save them all) to see if I can find one that is around their networths. If I can find a close match I will take their military strength (including jets as turrets just in case the ally is all turrets), and use that as my estimation of my target's allies defense.

As a Demo techer, I understand you reluctance on spending turns spying. I have a lot of spies to make sure I keep failing to a minimum. I also don't try to spy into a target more than twice if i fail, just move to the next.

Thanks for the input everyone. He is new (first set, but I've given him tips and links to more info) and admits to making a number of mistakes like running out of food a few times.

He is trying out a Casher because he doesn't have a lot of time to play and didn't want to worry about selling stuff on the market his first time. I never expected him to hit the top ranks his first go, but I don't remember getting grabbed for quite as much when I was first starting either. I never played a Casher though, so maybe they get hit more?

If he could get enough jets to retal these guys back, they would probably farm him until humanitarian limit, lol. He hasn't been retaled once yet from targets he has attacked, only gets hit from people 3x-4x his size. Sounds like he missed the buss for staying out of the top guys target range and should focus on gaining net without gaining land for a few days.

So I am trying to help my brother get into this game, but I have to say, its pretty damn disappointing trying to play this game as a new player. He is not short on defense or strong defensive allies. But he is nearly unable to gain land each day due to the top 40 countries grabbing him day after day for nearly as much land as he is able to grab per day. The only reason he is able to hold onto any land he grabs, is because nearly half you top 40 fluffers fail to break him.

He made 4 P.S. last night on countries about half his networth and roughly ~2.4k land less than his at the time. (For numbers, he was roughly 1.4mil at 6.9k acres to their 650k and 4.5k acres). His gains were from 117A (271A) to 146A (315A) for a little over 1100 acres gained in 4 P.S.

Later that night, he gets hit by 3 P.S. from countries between 3x to 4x his size who all had over double his land, (For numbers, he was at 1.7mil and 8k acres when attacked by people around 5.5mil or more and 16k land or more. Their gains from him range from 233A (515A) to 292A (612A) for about 800 acres lost.

How is a smaller country supposed to gain land when they hit riskier targets around half their level, but end up losing as much land as they can gain per attack to countries 3-4 times their size hitting them from completely safe networth rages.. I am sorry to all the top netting countries (I am in the top 40 myself), but this doesn't seem fair or encouraging to newer players at all..

I actually thought about something along these same lines the other night. And its for the same reason, trying to get those 12 or 18 hour bonuses without leaving large stocks of cash sitting idle until I can log back in. If you sell off whatever unit you are producing in less than 12 or 18 hours, your are usually stuck with a large wad of cash and no way to put that towards anything until you actually log in to spend it or place some SO's.

Two things I came up with are:
1) Spread out the bonus turns in 1 turn intervals. Currently you get 3 turns for 12 hours, so spreading that out would be 1 turn every 4 hours. I am assuming the reason for this bonus turn system is to keep the servers from being overloaded due to everyone playing at the same time? Offering turns in exchange for not staying logged in all the time and hogging server resources? I don't exactly know how much more server traffic spreading the bonus turns out would create, or if server load is even an issue. But it would get rid of making people wait 12 hours before they could log in and spend their cash if they still wanted to get the bonus turns. A 4 hour time period doesn't seem too bad of a wait IMO. This would also allow people to play at times that are more convenient to their schedules while still receiving most of the bonus turns. My schedule is not the same each day, so waiting 12-24 hours and playing my turns at the same time each day doesn't work for me. Which is a bummer because I have to either sacrifice the bonus turns to log in early at a convenient time, or log in hours after the bonus turns would be given, at a less convenient time.

2) What if you were able to mark certain SO's not expire if you didn't have the cash available? Wouldn't this accomplish the same thing? You place the SO you want for the specified quantity, and then the SO tries to get those goods until the quantity specified is purchased, or the SO is canceled. This would allow a SO to remain open even if the country didn't have the funds at the time to complete the SO, but the country was expecting funds at a later time and still wanted the SO available until such time. One problem I see is the continual loop of a country trying to fulfill the SO even though it doesn't have the funds. Some kind of timer or way to prevent the SO from continually trying to purchase the goods without funds would need to be put in place I think.
