Seems like every fun thread gets censored. Very boring and easy to see why they left. Seems to be why there are no posts now. The forum is half of the fun of the game and now it has to be played by the metric of “would this upset a 55 year old teacher or office lady” aka no fun allowed

No fun allowed = no players are interested


This place needs two things 1. Advertising

2. A thriving forum


Any business without advertising fails because you don’t bring in new customers and old customers don’t stay forever.


If you want earth to succeed it would be relatively easy. It’s easy to get a business jumping and full of people if it’s exciting. Nobody wants to go be bored to death or censored though. Very easy to see why no one is here now.

I still think the largest issue, is time. Things come and go. Yah, sure, some things come and stay a lot longer than others. But not everything will survive, time.

In terms of the ideas, that could possibly attract players, like say, Advertisements on facebook. The people suggesting this, have you ran some ads in facebook to see ? :)

I may, or may never play again. But, seriously in terms of games, this was the ultimate for me. Def greatful for the memories.

In terms of seing this as a business, you may bare in mind the reason swirve went defunct. Which was the player numbers were dwindling and I would imagine profits in whatever form......were no longer that great. I truly do not know what happened. But was there for the last set. And here we are.... all these years later. fluff, this is nearly a 30 year old text best strategy game. It might just be that little bit of negativity that still lurks within me. Or, it may just be the ability to accept the reality that things come and go. \o/

I have a very good understanding of what it takes to make money yes. Absolutely. You could modernize the game but I think it would be better to just market it as retro because it is very unique. Your main thing is advertising. If people don’t know you exist, they don’t come spend money with you. You have to put the word out that you have something for sell. With good enough advertising you can be the worst most shady businessman ever and have an awful product and still have enough new customer inflow to keep making a decent profit. There are like 10 billion potential customers online. You just have to get .00000001 percent of them to generate some revenue or buy turns or bonus points or whatever.

We could crowd source it. Make a crowd sourcing advertising thread and see how many people are in and we can crunch some numbers and see what’s available between all of us surely and try and bring in an influx of players. I bet they would be ok with it.

I am very aware you suffer from some type of boomer syndrome and come into every single thread for the last 10 years to proclaim how you don’t care about said thread. I’d get my hormones checked for T and estrogen. That would explain that behavior. That’s also exactly why I say this place needs advertising and new players.
