Slagpit,

I would like to understand the reason behind the change, it would be great if you could share the thinking behind it.

I am impartial with the change for the record.

Lowering the pm prices would mean more food on the public market driving prices down to 1 or 2 dollars above the baseline. I would expect bushels to sell around 36 or 37 now.

I don't see how this is only killing farmers, surely it affects anyone stocking bushels due to the destock cash in being nearly 10% lower?

Dont think it killed the farmer strat at all, on almost all severs, the price of food on market was a fair bit higher then private market.

The only time this will actually apply is at the start of the set, before people get techup, and the end of the set, where people destock.

It killed stocking by about 10%, but didn't really affect farmers too much themselves.

hmm thats true, since the floor is lower without tech than it used to be without tech then farmer startups will need to be altered.

This hurts.

Means cashers will be producing the same amount while buying cheaper bushels. And has there not already been 101 arguements already saying that cashers out do farmers.

Furthermore if you are 'balancing it' then it means it is now even harder to beat previous records. For example it will be harder to knock people out of the Best 3 records because they have a 10% high bushel sale price at destock.

(sorry to single you out, but I need to respond to some of this...)

I don't think you understand how the bushel price affects strategies and balances between strategies; the peak should be a similar price, or higher, which causes cashers to stock at the same or higher; then at the end the destock will be lower (in other words, it should bring back a little more of a bushel peak). This actually hurts non-farmers who stock mid-set more than anybody else. Late stocking people still stock & destock at a ratio of 36(+1-2)/36 stock/destock which is approximately the same as 39(+1-2)/39 stock/destock. Sure it will lower overall networth's a little, by like 7%. But a good player can squeeze that out in a good set surely?

This also has the effect of making it so demos that actually want to get the $36 price point have to get a fluff-ton of military tech, as you need closer to the max military tech point to get $36; makes demo-public destock less trivial.
Finally did the signature thing.

In the last decade, we've had food prices start out at $42 on the private market, and then get dropped to $24 on the private market, before being changed to $32 on the private market, and then recently military tech increasing food sale on the private market was added, and now they're changing food price to $29 to compensate for the military tech change.

If you've been doing the same thing for a decade, then apparently you don't pay attention to any changes that are made in the game.

I don't think the weaker startup is a big issue, but I didn't think farmer was that strong and it will likely be quite a bit weaker now. I wouldn't be surprised if it peaks higher, but overall it'll probably going end up substantially worse. You'd have to compare the gain from the higher peak, against the losses from the lower bottom, which can't be calculated until after the fact.

I almost wonder if this was more about cashers than it was about farmers? Cashers seem pretty weak to me, lowering food would make them stronger. When food hits 35 or 36 a rep casher, not even hitting the cash button is going to make more than a farmer and that wasn't the case before.

Since everyone is getting bored, why not decrease oil consumption and increase the private market sell price to 145? That would give us another viable strategy to play.
