type 10 words to notepad and save it and see how much space it takes, all users posts are drop in ocean in disk space usage.

A typical harddisk has allocation units formatted to 4kb per unit (default settings).

In English this means any file on the hard drive will take up 4096 bytes of space (4 kb), or a multiple of it.

You can think of this as having boxes that are 4kb in size, a 1 byte file will still use up an entire box (4kb of space), while a 5k file will use 2 boxes (8kb of space), with the first box having a marking that points to the second box.

Now forum messages in a SQL database are different. :)
