I like that. looks OK on my phone. not sure what to do about the blurb though.

also, it misses out a lot of what the portal had on it (yes, I know a lot of that stuff is YEARS out of date)

All that stuff i left out means nothing to a new player. Its also redundant to have static news in 3 places (6 year out dated blog, annoucements forum, and main page). The only way it works is if the news on the main page is hooked up to the forum so that its always updated like this site... http://www.manjaro.org

As for the blurp, i envision it to be 2 column. Text on the left, and I would even go as far as posting the first 100 turns of a farmer in a video demo on the left... its so well known, and even auto used in ffa that the first 100 turns should be posted as a demo of the game right on the main page..
