Let's get political, shall we? Are any of you disgusted by the fact that people have been trying to turn the Zimmerman-Martin ordeal into some kind of new civil rights movement? Almost everyone I have seen on TV or the internet, or have heard talk about it seems to have neglected to use their common sense.

Sure it's a tragedy that someone had to die, and everyone's too enraged to think clearly so they play the race card. No one wants to realize, Zimmerman is a LATINO, with a German last name at that. It shouldn't matter about a person's race or ethnicity. A human being died, and skin color shouldn't make that one person's life more valuable than another.

Another disgusting thing that perplexes me, is the rioting that occurred after the not guilty verdict. I remember the L. A. Riots in 1992, over the Rodney King beating... and it disgusts me how people cannot use their common sense and engage in a legal protest against what they believe is wrong, without causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage, looting, as well as injuring/killing people all because they've neglected their common sense.

The whole Zimmerman thing is a mess. In actuality, the guy was probably guilty of something. However, the state's attorney didn't have the evidence to make it stick.

I'm happy that so far the family is basically saying they plan to move on instead of pursuing a civil case. Perhaps it would get them some closure, but it would simply drag them through the experience a 2nd time, and Zimmerman isn't in the same time of place that OJ SImpson was in, where he had money that could be taken from him to punish him at least.

Ultimately, it's a fluffed up situation, but those that say justice wasn't served are simply upset that they didn't get the verdict they want. Our system is specifically set up to let guilty people go free more often than to put innocent people in jail.

What instantly made me sick about the whole thing, was certain media agencies taking a few words in a sentence, omitting any others in between, and then trying to paint him as a racist.

I am glad that NBC issued an apology for the way their people edited the audio of the call... but despite this people *still* not wanting to listen to common sense, have tried to imply that race/ethnicity had a part in it.

I don't know whether Zimmerman is openly racist, but to think race had ZERO part in this is probably just as naive.

I'd bet if it was some white kid walking through the neighborhood, it would have went down differently. That's my speculation though.
