It sort of reminds me of that cow in Belgium that died because lightning struck a tree across a field, arced into the ground, and hit the cache of hidden, buried explosives from WW1 the cow was standing over, about 4 decades after the war.
In this case, I'm guessing that the military unit killed was the country's only troop, who happened to be recently retired from the army, lying in a hammock, dreaming about the fat pension he'd get. The missile didn't hit the dude directly, it exploded prematurely thousands of miles away. A tiny piece of shrapnel from the explosion got caught on the wing of a jet as it was returning from a failed LG attempt to a different country. The piece of shrapnel then became dislodged and fell, killing the guy in the hammock by slicing through his carotid artery.
