I took my daughters out today for the first Saturday of spring youth turkey season

the youngest harvested a 21 lb 3yr old and her older sister got a 26 lb 4+ yr old turkey :) their first ever!

both had over 8 inch beards and nearly 1 inch spurs

am taking my son in the morning, hoping he will do at least as well

does any one else hunt?

my son took his first turkey of the year this morning, he held out and got the biggest one in the group

9 inch beard and spurs just over an inch,

only weighed in at 26lbs so didn't beat his sister for overall bird size, but he was quick to point out the beard difference as soon as we walked in the door. lol

Deci, archery is a kick :) i will be hunting bear and elk with my bow this year

Popcom, that definitely counts !! please video that so we all can share in the experience

i havent been hunting in a while... last time i went was with my dad a few years back... always went deer hunting, never for turkey... but it so happens that a turkey is the last thing i shot, lol...

it was getting late in the day and i hadnt seen anything all day... then i saw a small gobbler and took the shot... i shot him with a buckshot... ended up blowing most of his breast out, lol

congrats on the successful hunts :)

===================================================
dunno what you can do for your daughter, but it's time for your son to shave..
1 inch spurs? As long as it doesn't hurt the horsey! I hope they wear a cowboy hat...

;o)

Everyone got their first kills, eh? Excellent, Abbs!..

Once in Texas my Dad and I were next to this lake.. Duck hunting, when suddenly this huge whooping crane flew right in front of us.. I had just gotten my gun up and targeted this big sumfluff, and my Dad yanks my gun from me and laughs.. "We can't shoot that, son!" Hell I din't know the whooping crane was protected by about every governmental agency in the USA, punishable by life term in prison!
Well, not sure of that but I'd be in deep fluff with my Dad..
Nothing the US govt could do, could be worse than that.

...

Remember..
Guns don't kill people...
People, kill people!

Uncle Ted FTW!!!!!

I used to hunt. Mostly small game and birds. Always really enjoyed bow hunting.
