iwar: It's possible to survive on your own, but I'd recommend you either join a clan or at least make your own tag and put all of your countries in it. It gets you a lot more respect than being untagged.
Some good options if you want to join a clan:
PANLV: My clan. We're mostly netgainers, which means we try to make our countries as big as possible and usually try to avoid conflict that could lead to war.
FoCuS: A good overall clan. They netgain pretty well, they war even better. And they're a great group of guys and a great ally to us.
SALT: A new clan and a good group of guys as well. They're a bit smaller, but they've got a couple of great guys leading the way that would be able to help you understand how to play the game.
There are plenty of other good clans as well, but these are my personal favorites. :)
If you're at all interested in joining one of these (or any other), feel free to mention it here, and I'm sure either myself or someone else will post URL's for websites to apply to.
Otherwise, like I said, I'd recommend you at least create your own "tag" under Clans and tag up all of your countries. It'll get you far more respect.
And for the record, many clans out there, including all 3 of the ones listed above, could teach you how to finish a kill by yourself in as little as about 1 minute, as opposed to the lengthy killrun you had. :)
Otherwise, it looks like you're starting to get a good handle on the game. It's always nice to see new blood in the game.
