What are you talking about? Do you think that private Ryan randomly choses to defend or occupy a country because... whatever reason? This is the military you're talking about. They're disciplined, trained to do a job, someone gives them the job and they do it. They deserve respect.
Private Ryan can think for himself. If he finds something is objectionable, he should, as an American, object to doing it. That is what this country is about. And that's what makes this country great.

What about vets who rape female soldiers? What about vets who rape civilians? What about vets who kill outside their mandate? What about vets who are just in it for the money and couldn't give a damn about your freedom?
Not every vet deserves to be honored. Some are upstanding people and deserve all the accolades they get. And some are just scum.
