Goorp was before my time in Paradigm. I shall see if I can find out from Daryl (HappyChicken) as to what it meant.

Goorp was a great guy. He always had the best interests of others in mind. It was a real blow when he passed so unexpectedly, not only to me but the entire community. Its hard to find people as outgoing as he was.

I wish I had seen this sooner and that I could remember more of my interactions with him. I, like Brett, was in ULTRA with goorp. He was a great leader, always willing to learn more and teach what he could. I've been trying to find chat logs from my conversations with him on ICQ, but unfortunately I'm not having any luck right now. I'll keep searching, though.

Rest in peace, Laurent/goorp.

Happy New Year to all.

Thanks again for everyone's efforts and comments regarding my son, Laurent, aka: Goorp.

Anyone know what Goorp means or why Laurent used the name?

Regards,
John Stebbins

I knew Goorp by name only, but in referance to why he picked that name......did he play world of warcraft or everquest. I have used the name Nindyini before, which is a random name assigned by the game, that i just took a liking to. If he played either of those games, it may have been a character name that he just took a liking to.

It also kinda sounds like a name that would come out of one of them games.

Raven: Goorp was from WELL before WoW. not sure how far everquest goes back, but probably same deal there. we're talking 2003/4 here. WoW wasn't released until a few months after Goorp's passing.

Hello Alliance. It's Goorp's father, John Stebbins. I just thought that you'd all like to see where I go to visit Laurent. Several times a year I travel high up in the Sangre de Cristo mountains of northern New Mexico at about 10,000 feet elevation where I buried some of Laurent's remains along with some artifacts from his life. It is an old growth aspen grove far from anywhere. You have to work to get to it. I call it Laurent's Place. I always visit Laurent on his birthday, in early June. I carved his initials in the tree nearest to where I buried him. I thought you all might like to see a few photos so you can picture where he is and think about him from time to time. Here is a link to the photos:

The link will work for about a month.

I hope you're all doing well. Thank you again for all the posts and well wishes. It has meant a lot to me.

Take good care,
John Stebbins

Mr. Stebbins, I only knew of your son, I did not know him.

That said, thank you for sharing this private celebration of what he meant to you. I have lost several family members before I felt it was their time, and I hope you have found peace in the aftermath of this tragedy. God bless.

Even though I am long retired from Earth, I think it is safe to say that Goorp will always have a place in Paradigm.

Your son will never be forgotten by hundreds, maybe thousands within our little online community. I genuinely appreciate and applaud the effort you've made here to further that. Thank you for the photos. RIP Laurent

Everquest or UO is the likely cause. I still use Banuk often enough because the Nameless server and Sony said that was my TSK's name... and so it is.

RIP bud, thanks for the thread showing people here arent the heartless fluffs they all come across as haha

Thank you to everyone, again. I hope you're all doing well. I know it's been a long time, but if any of you are interested here is a link to a photo I took of where I buried my son Laurent (a.k.a. Goorp) high up in the mountains of the Sangre de Christos of northern New Mexico. Laurent's ashes are buried near the aspen trees in the photo. I visit the site several times a year. I call the site Laurent's Place. I sure miss him.

Here's the link: http://fineartamerica.com/...mexico-john-stebbins.html

FYI... I am NOT trying to sell photos to any of you. I simply don't know how else to share this photo with you.

All the best to everyone!

Kind Regards,
John Stebbins (a.k.a. Goorp's dad)
