Okay blid. Yes, tella DID contact me. He asked me why my tech was up there, and I told him.

Did he say it was cheating? No.

Did he say it was coordination? No.

Why? Because 90% of sets I run a strat, I put at least 1 block of tech up high, which I told him. Does it get bought all the time?? No.

Sometimes though? Clearly, yes.

Why do I do it? Because if I finish top 10, then an extra 300k NW will not help me - but an extra 3-4m NW?

You'd think if it were definitive cheating, I would have been deleted retroactively and/or told to stop. Never happened.

Did tella tell me to stop? No. Because it's not cheating to GAMBLE.

And now that we know that mrford and random players will buy fluff out for fun, well, isn't it worth the gamble then?

I thought so before and I still think so now, so I'll keep doing what I've been doing. Especially if it helps me jump a few places every 10 or so sets and especially since it's clearly been deemed NOT cheating.

Lmao, I'm amused at the reactions to that post. I wasn't demanding any response from CX or, imo, saying anything outrageous.

Here's an example to make my point: selling 183k indy tech for $7000, as happened a few sets ago, is good for $1.2b, and provides 5m extra networth. That's not just an extra little bump to your score, that's 20% of the typical *top ten* score. that's a silly thing for a game to come down to, and it relies entirely not on your own play, but on someone random deciding to give away a free $1,000,000,000. Why should anyone be impressed by your score if you didn't get it, but someone else gave it to you? it's like posting a FA-assisted score.

I made the same explanation the set I put up 30m all-x. That set was literally a perfect storm of circumstances, and yes tech was bought that set, which I admitted to but no one was listening b/c it was 30m all-x and apparently that's blasphemy^n-th degree.

But in a way, everything is a gamble. If I stock food and sell it at 60, some sets it will sell and some it won't. Gamble. Running a farmer strat in general - gamble. Teching over cashing? Gamble. Grabbing gogy? Gamble.

Selling some bus tech @ 7777 in the hopes someone buys it? Gamble.

*shrug* I do what I do what I do, and if it works, great! If not, then oh well.

Most of my top 10 finishes in real servers over the years have come right down to gambling. There is gambling in everything at high end play.


Do I think this kid will retal gamble, do I think the oil market will spike, gamble, do I think food will top at 50 or 55 gamble, etc etc etc etc etc. What CX is doing really isn't a gamble at all, becuase he could always set it up to come back to him within 2 minutes of the server if it doesn't get bought out, so there is almost no risk at all, why you don't do it is beyond me, What is that tech doing for you when your not running turns.

Selling or buying tech for $7777 is horsefluff. It's just transferring funds/FA. in the worst-case, market coordination; best-case, a blind donation. both cases, it's ridiculous and has nothing in common with any of the other "gambles" described in that post

The fact that a n00b buys expensive tech, once every 20 resets does not justify the tech coordination that happend a lot of times here.
