I'm looking into getting an EE multiplayer game going. We would play once a week (or more depending on time etc) save the game and resume until we have a victor.

I have been avoiding it so far (though I own it), I'm concerned it'll eat me after all the time I put into EU3 and CK2.

I also have it but have not got round to playing. I am a Civ veteran (novice at multiplayer though) but just never took the time to get into EU. A mistake by the look of it.

It is a very different game than Civilization, as it is much more tightly focused on a specific period in history rather than the span of civilization.

How does Civ5 multiplayer work? Do all players need to be online at the same time? Time zones?

What about expansion pack options, say I only have the base game and first expansion but not the second?

I'm assuming you have all the expansions (complete edition).

We have to all be on but if not finished we can save game and resume the next play time.

I'd like to see it as an weekly thing as long as there is interest.

List your day and time w/ time zone you can play weekly.

Except for the next three weeks I can play any time (retired guy with a (largely) understanding better half).

(I may need just a little help with the mechanics of multiplayer as I have not previously dipped my toe into that particular pool.)

Well I make that 7 including Link. Well enough. :)

I imagine it will get started while I am on holiday so I'll put myself down as first reserve. I am a bit of a weirdo and don't mind playing out a losing game so maybe I could step in when the first player wants to throw their hand in. Or is it possible to take over an AI country mid game?

I take it you know how to set the thing up Requiem?
