20% is pretty reasonable considering the size of the server and the member base past and present RD has to operate with. What should really blow your mind is there are many more still retired ingame but not in forum that may be returning in the near future given all of the fun RD seems to be blessed with these days.

Give them a reason to play and you'll see a fluffload more of them comming back to enjoy it :P

And as for the new members, I think the old management did a much better job driving anyone away than RD had. Infact I would gamble money that the percentage of players driven away completely was actually miniscule compared to the old development teams, server politics, and large alliance over farming.

If fun is netting, they may do it.. if fun is wiping the floor with you with many teams they may do it. Point us they play there way because its fun for them, why accept some stupid challenge that they would be likely to win, but definately not enjoy?

just strengthen gdi and advise strongly that new players should join it as they get familiar with the game.. yeah, all ex's can remain safer, but the grabbers can always out pace even an untouched all x pretty easily if they're decent..

if players are more tightly locked down into hitting in their nw ranges then as a bonus you'll see the low def land traders getting smacked by midfeeding too. And alliances unwilling to give it back in retals will begin recrafting policies that will make for a more land grabbing friendly server.

ooh.. another added bonus.. someone being targetted by an FS can get into gdi limiting the number the of attackers that can take them out, leaving a mechanism but still leaving it to the initiative of the alliance to weaken an FS.

You all will probably say "we have gdi, and it doesn't work like that/that good".. but maybe strengthening the gdi system will do a whole lot more for making people able to defend themselves better with actually altering gameplay 'forcing' them to defend themselves better, with formula changes.

Beef up the available tools, and let the community do with it what they will.. if they have the opportunity to limit themselves in attacking but also from being attacked and decide not to utilise it, then they can't whine for being suicided, fs'd, topfed, or farmed.

You've captured more land, it takes a larger toll on readiness just out of sheer organisation in the taking of that land. This may not have been an intended representation, but it still makes sense

I think the general point most of you fail to grasp is that there are no written rules pertaining to the retalling issue, and "server etiquette" or "general policy" is all bullfluff anyway.

Please realise RD always will act as it always has.. however the hell it damn well pleases. The safest bet has always been to just not give them reason to "act" in your direction *shrugs*

If I were playing would I like to be retal'd by tag #2 for hitting tag #1? Not overly.. no.. so if I see that tag #1 is obviously related to tag #2, I would probably steer away from attacking and find some safer land to indulge in. :P
