got hit by the same two ... and a message from one claiming to be a random missler and from the second (his ally) claiming to be the wrong number on a kingme hit.

While I was in the top five, its interesting since I've got no stockpile, and am no threat to finish in the top twenty.

Would be interested in knowing which country is his...

We retal buildings:buildings, not land:land.

If you grab one of our members running a techer, we will retal until we get every single lab back.

set up a few hundred or so server run bot countries. Have these countries run missile boat explore strats, but give a random factor for a large number of them suiciding on any one who over grabs them. Say a single tap has a 1/5 chance of a single missile response, and say a 1/100 chance of multiple missile strikes, and 1/1000 of several of these countries attacking, and 1/10000 chance of a kill run.

Double taps double the risk of response, triple taps square it, quadruple taps cube it, etc.

I take more land from you with a single grab than you can get from me in one retal.

It's basically sour grapes that the land trade wasn't equal.

I see no problem with this.

When you add in military and building losses, you're not gaining a whole heck of a lot.

Mr. Lime: Fair or not, with RD, the assumption will always be that the same person is running both land trading countries.

it's not just about the time to build up the offense to make the retal. It's also about timing the hit to avoid DR and do the most damage possible to the offending party. Retaliation isn't a deterrent unless you make it hurt.

As far as threats go, any time you change a standard and attempt to enforce something more stringent, there will be blow back. Especially in an environment where several alliances would rather fight than netgain. The only question is, will the alliance(s) you engage have the firepower to hurt you.

Nasjym : it had nothing to do with that. pretty much every alliance that was strong enough to enforce a landgrab policy had access to a news database long before 72 hours became the standard.

72 hours also gives time for a target to come out of DR for even retals.

In my opinion, the retal window is 48 hours after the guy who got hit logged in and saw it. Of course, I'm just a foot soldier, and have no role in setting policy : )

48 hours is superior if you're a land grabbing alliance. 72 hours is superior if you're getting grabbed. If you have the might to set policies to your advantage, and to enforce them, then you set it to what benefits you the most.

Only downside of aggressive landgrab and retal policies: they tend to start wars. I don't say that as a representative of my alliance, or as a threat, just as an observation.

a true conservative believes that the government has no business telling people who can and cannot get married. If the government recognizes any marriage, then it should recognize all marriages.

the laws state exactly that. And in the eyes of the state government a "civil union" is equal to a "marriage". But that doesn't stop non-state governmental entities, or for that matter entities outside of my state from not following that law. In practice the civil union ends up being seperate but equal in the same sense that the segregated schools were separate but equal.

Go to a justice of the peace, sign a civil union agreement, put on wedding rings, no one will ask why, and just do your own thing. Don't force your ideas under the same umbrella as mine. I won't try and force gays to be straight. I won't paint stripes on a horse and make you call it a zebra. Don't be a gay couple and try to make me call you a "wife and wife" or "man and man", it is different and that is fine. Don't try to make me accept it as normal when it is outside of the norm. No malice, but if you have gay pride be proud of doing your own thing and leave others to do their own thing.

I live in a civil union state. My mother in law and step mother in law have a civil union. And yet in many hospitals one would be barred from visiting the other because the hospital does not consider a civil union mate as "family"

plenty on facebook that is far more graphic sexually then what is posted on these forums. How many people on farmville line their avatars up behind sheep? This forum was very vanilla when I was a moderator, and appears to have continued in that vein.

As far as parents are concerned, they should be supervising their kids on the internet. If you let the internet raise your children, then they will find sexually graphic content. And if your belief structure is that your gay children should be forced to live a heterosexual life and be miserable, the internet has plenty to dissuade them of that.

And anyone I caught in an alliance I was involved in got the boot. Not everyone did it, just the (for lack of better term), the wankers who felt the need to justify the cheating to themselves.
