It is sad that a select circle of people would go through the trouble of gaining access to other clans sites. It's even sadder that the general RD membership had to suffer for the transgressions of a few immoral individuals.

I had respect for RD in the last few wars we fought against each other. I respected the high membership activity and walling abilities. I hope the RD membership can look on this and see that this is what their leadership did to them... not what EE did to them.

I was one of the people who's account was logged into compromised.

I had to report it as a potential security threat at work yesterday (used same password).

fluff you guys (those of you who did it, also known as people who claim to be my friends).

From what I understand it was hash code used. I am not sure how to explain that.... but not actual passwords. (I think pang or qzjul can weigh in on that more to make you feel more confident)
In the meantime you should always use a different password for different accounts to always be safe. There has been many times gmail, yahoo, and other places big have been hacked and people have gotten ahold of some pretty good info and passwords to get access to bank accounts etc..... something like that in the last few years should teach that. ;)
I most defiantly do not have the same pass for ee, boxcar, my sites, or bank accounts....

I think its worse than the tc/hanlong cheating because they got an advantage in this game unfairly but other than that didn't exactly hurt anyone. With the alleged hacking of accounts here, if anyone uses a universal password then not only are their boxcar accounts compromised but also their email, and from that you can see (by reading their emails) what kind of accounts they have elsewhere, and so those accounts are also compromised. Whether or not this blame should be shared by RDs members I don't know. Given the TC/hanlong precedent id say the other members shouldn't have been deleted, but then again TC/hanlong didn't get passwords to hundreds of accounts. I mean this set is kinda fluffed for everyone anyways so whatever.

Well to clarify.. hashed passwords are just the passwords hashed. Using various tools, one can offline crack those hashes to get the password. Arstechnica has done many in depth articles on how all of this happens.

But yes, if you use reuse your boxcar password anywhere else, those who were involved do have your passwords. It is certainly a security concern, and I would hope that this has been reported to the appropriate legal authorities. What happened was not only unethical, it is illegal. I'm SHOCKED that anyone after hearing about how much data Five Eyes soaks up would put themselves in a position where they can face many years in prison over a silly text based game.

I know RD has cheated in the past, even in the most recent past. Excluding this situation. However, in my personal opinion, deleting countries that could have hacked information they can use maliciously(More important sites like bank accounts/doubtful, you would have to be one dumbass to use sensitive sites passwords in a MMO) then a country deletion is the last thing they care about.... Your just starting fires....

There will always be spies. There will always be wrong do'ers/cheaters.... but doing what just happened here is not the solution to the problem.

This just opened up more trash talking about a cheating clan. Should have just permabanned those involved, and if criminal charges could be filed they should be done so.

Also do you think any "hacker" would be stupid enough to use his real IP? Those are VPNs, proxies or compromised computers, the IPs isnt the proof that got RD deleted that much has been said, those are just the IPs that has been used to access various boxcar accounts, they are probably not even related to the actual hacking itself.

I never claimed to support mass deletion. I argued against it. I think it should have been treated the same way as hanlong/laf were, for the sake of consistency. I don't get to make those calls though.

Speaking as a normal member of RD, this feels quite unfair to delete the entire tag. I put time into my country and it's deleted on what seems like a whim. If the whole of LaF was deleted when the TC issue came about, then I'd have no problem with it and go play elsewhere. However, the precedent was set at that time to punish only those who cheated and/or hacked. Now, you choose to delete the entire tag?

I'm not one to subscribe to conspiracy theories or anything like that, but if this was Evo or LaF that did this, I doubt they would be mass deleted. I've appealed and asked for my country to be reinstated, and I think it's in the game's best interests to not punish clean players for playing in a certain tag.
