Hi all;

We've decided that we should press forward with the 2B bug removal (AND adding of corruption) on all servers given the PM-sell price modification is happening this set as well.

This will be a TEST RESET for Alliance - if it unbalances alliance strats we may revert on Alliance; the others will stay with no-2B-limit in that case.



Just to reiterate what the no-2B limit w/ corruption removal entails:

- There will be no limit on the amount of money you can have (well, a limit of $9*10^18)

- If you have more than 2B on hand when you play a turn, any money over that 2B threshold will be subject to 0.1% "corruption" -- the same rate as food decay; this means if you have $3.5B on hand, you will be lose $1.5M per turn in corruption; $4B you will lose $2M corruption - a good rule-of-thumb is $1M corruption per B over 2B;

- This means you can sell >>$2B and then spend to below $2B before taking a turn, and lose no money.





Also to summarize the other previously-announced changes that will be happening:

- Military tech will now increase the PM-sell price rather than lower it; it will still lower PM-purchase prices; MB's will still lower PM-sell prices, as will Theo's bonus. The biggest change this will have is on is bushels. Below are listed the base PM-sell, the new Normal govt w/ MAX military tech; and DEMO w/ MAX military tech:

So the removal of $2B limit is live this set on the alliance server right?

What about the other change (pm prices), is it live on the alliance server?

no, the current set is not no-2B limit; this will happen as they reset

only Express and FFA *CURRENTLY* have the 2B limit removed

definitely makes stocking in express worthwhile... but ill be damned if that dosnt make a switch to theo to destock way way better. No turns even need to be played anymore...

qzjul, the corruption effect does not stay once u buy back under 2billion right? It seemed to do that to me in express.. I could have been mistaken though.

so yes if you are below 2B then there won't be any; if you have 2,000,000,1000 you will have $1 of corruption

the changes is because having a 2B limitation is due to the size of an INT and was not originally intended to be in Earth2025; plus it is not exactly realistic and very arbitrary; plus it limits liquidity, and liquidity is something that the markets *really* need

2b bug removed can make theo destocking easier but it really makes all destocking easier and makes the game a lot more casual friendly

and it makes reselling easier since you dont need to login many times a day because you can only sell 2b mil at a time

but the mil tech change makes non demos catch up to theos by commision amount which is a significant change as well

NW will shoot up. Farmers are hurt by limiting the need to stock, helped by a higher price floor.

Nice. Seeing these type of changes is always nice. keeps things interesting.

Btw can you please shed some light on the 'test set' in alliance a bit more? Does this mean it wont run for a full 2months or may end prematurely? or?

what we mean is it will run the full reset; and if everything is fubared because of it, then we may undo the change for the set after; though i don't anticipate that myself

cool, makes sense to me.

people will still need to use bushels to stock, so there will still be plenty of demand.

You still want to avoid corruption or decay from bushels/cash, and you can't stock cash on the market unless it's in a product form..

Don't you think that it will be a bit wiser if you change only one thing per reset, not more? If/when it goes fubarr-ed how can you be sure that the cause was the military tech or 2bn removal or a cummulative effect of the both?

Those two go hand in hand. The mil tech change helps to counteract the effect on food removing the 2bn limit has.

So what's everyone thing about removing the $2bil cap, now that you guys almost had a year without one?

I personally don't like it, but haven't been able to play with it yet. I'd rather the cap just risen. If players can avoid selling their stockpiles twice they will try. Sometimes I think it's several times over, and this lowers the market buys that happens...

Have you looked into it? It is still more profitable to not keep more than 2bill onhand, it just makes destocking faster and takes awaythe depressing mistakes that can be made

but I can't net so what would I know

remember when bushel floor was $2 and you couldn't have more than 2b bushels at a time

plus there was a bug where food disappeared on the market perhaps related to 2b food being on at the same price

sometimes simpler and easier is better than keeping complexity that stemmed from not looking ahead enough with coding then claiming its integral to the game
