Meanwhile, he finishes 2nd on Alliance today, logs on IRC every 4 hours to pester me with questions about how to beat Eugene (who finished 3rd) for 2 weeks. Logic.

Primary's completely different, and a lot more enjoyable than farming a clan or untagged countries for 30 days.

Yes I was jumping up to hit number 2 who got deleted. Then had to stop and now prep a little bit to get crazy. He is ready to go lol and theos techs suck.

But now just saving some turns.

that's right blid. it's not even about the tag protection. i am perfectly capable of retaling anyone who hits me but when you have retards that ror and force you into random wars it becomes luck of the draw. like I could make a country next reset just to target your country and your finish would be toast. in 1a you're relatively sheltered from that because if you get hit by dummies your alliance can kill him off.

I don't like primary because there's no turn saving at all in the midgame. otherwise you fall behind. Even though I'm on frequently in 1a and you might make the argument that I was regularly online, there were also periods during the set where I consciously turn saved up to close to full turns before playing them as a strategic move. it's impossible to do that here in primary during the grabbing phase. it's also a little random whether you get ror'ed like this instance and are forced to fight noobs, thus putting you more behind.

one of these sets i'll actually try and place a t10 so you guys can stfu about my netting ability. all i know is oldman is a god here but he sucks at 1a. he's only good when he's fed land and it's plentiful. put him in a scenario where land is scarce and he's toast.

primary is an easy game if you have the time to regularly log in. how hard is it to find targets 1/4 of your networth and pick them off one by one? i can't see this server being too much of a challenge and more a function of luck in not getting screwed over by random topfeeders.

ALSO everyone who's hit me is gonna get retalled. I warned you guys. better pump d.

I've been turn saving close to full turns for a week now and haven't been grabbed yet.

And oldman and xinhuan have both run into a small war and they haven't become farmland. Oh well, just let the alliance noob rant

I think I disagree with almost everything candyman just said. I still love him though :)

I think most everyone in the top is turn saving though.

Clearly, it's all about luck and not getting screwed over by random topfeeders, because you know, oldman's 8 top 10 streak in the last 8 sets he played... and my own 8 top 10 streak in the last 8 sets I played... you know, they are all *just luck*. But hey, 16 months is a long time not to get screwed over by luck!

If it is as easy as you say it is, why isn't everyone in the top 10? But hey, it's all luck right? Just as it is not completely luck based you sometimes manage to catch a suicide in progress on Alliance then farm it for 4k free land.

If you are going to put down a server, put some thoughts into it and backup your facts.



Plenty of people turn save as a strategic move on Primary. A lot of people save to near max turns before using them, as can be seen above. You aren't forced to grab everyday. You can just as well dispense the turns the next day if you know what you are doing with the turns.

Of course I am not top ten, and probably never will be, but, I always leave some turns on the board. It does two things. It makes it a little more difficult for people to figure my log in a play patten and, it leaves me room to retal.

One down side, if you get caught with your stuff mis-priced in the market, you could be forced to recall and sell private or lose turns if you have too many turns saved.

To me this is more important now that tech stealing is off the boards. I now have to wait until cash comes in, then hit the person before he logs in and plays. So far this set it has been ok doing this for a retal. However, I like tech stealing because it hurts more and I don't have to time my spy ops.

I am a little preturbed that I still don't have 43 chems. I keep hoping someone gets annoyed when I retal and breaks GDI so I can spend a day making him hate life. It is too bad about Retribution. I was so hoping to ruin his set.

A good player is a good player. The servers have different variants that need adjusting to, but the game is still the game. Once you get used to the way things work, you can adjust your style to match.

I find primary is the lesser time devotion compared to alliance server. That's why I rarely play alliance anymore. You can play on your own time.

And before you ask for alliance accomplishments, I only ever played in war clans... My last top 10 was in one of IX's only netting sets.

he's right about a couple things, if you fall into the danger zone it can be really hard to get back, and the game once you know it is pretty straightforward

but
blid - candy is a complete quant beast, don't doubt it.
his 1st and 2nd place finishes in 1a were not soley because of tag protection at all.
candy is a top player in the game.

winning alliance is not impressive at all

Alliance server never reveal any skill, you have friends at other clan, you can simply trade land. Some more, clan can play with military & tech pump in market ; food & oil buy out.
I am personally look down on alliance, I play war in alliance. :p

Real skilled net players owned Tournament & Primary. My mind can recall the following players who owned both server like : oldman, rob, blid, afaik, bakku, ingle, xinhuan & etc.

Express a bit unfair, Communism always owning.

Candyman himself says you suck at Alliance oldman, despite winning back to back resets, so I guess he agrees winning it is meaningless. because you didn't DR camp or whatever.

and clans will also send aid packages to boost their guys into top spots as well.

well, instead of saying I suck at DR camping, I would rather say I don't have the time to do it. I can only come online for a couple of hours every day and that's not good for DR camping. If I ever had the time to DR camp, I might outcamp him, who knows.

my back to back wins weren't all that fantastic. Candy himself aided me with 1 minute to go in the set for the 2nd one, so that win wasn't well deserved. But then again, nobody cares about 1a. I got the win, and that's all I needed to complete my game profile.

And thats what Im saying. Personal Alliance wins and finishes dont mean much. Im not saying Candyman sucks at game, hes just solo-new and says some funny things.

and most "skills" in alliance are lame stuff like being able to be online or willing to wake up in order for peak DR camping, having phone alerts for good walling, etc. Or land trading/FA whoring which people will look down on. It doesnt exist for individual scores, people just play it for politics/alliance scores, war, and hanging with bros

well actually, there're quite a lot of skills involved in 1a on top of what you mentioned.

DR camping - well, this one takes time. so I don't consider it a skill but Xin thinks otherwise cuz there're people who can just click that 0.1 second faster than you EVERY single time.

land trading - it's easy to land trade, but it's difficult to excel at it. Most landtraders suck in 1a. LaF did it once and we showed everyone who's the boss. It involves: choosing the right target; hitting the people of the right size; what NW do I get to maximize gains; whether you initiate the hit or you get hit first; do you save this target for a 2nd hit later on or do I landtrade for the 2nd time now etc. There's alot of considerations that go into it. Good landtrading is a skill.

market play - this is key in 1a. market is a lot bigger in 1a compared to the solo servers. Volatility is there and there's opportunities for arbitrage in all volatile markets. deciding when to destock; deciding when to stop cycling your bushels etc. This is a skill.

warring in 1a - do you kill with GS? do you kill with BR? how fast do you kill? Do you wait for type 1 fast DR to expire before continuing (of course, this has been removed) etc? It takes skill to maximize damage with limited turns.

heh, so don't write off 1a just yet. it's a whole different arena altogether that requires very different skill sets.

I would say most people who can consistently finish top10 in 1a can do well in solo servers, but not the other way round.

Each server has its own merits based on the rules/environment. You cannot compare skill across servers once you talk about top 10.

You can equate a good player on one server is probably a good player on another but to be top 10 might be a different conversation.

If everyone that played Alliance also played Primary the top 10 would be much harder.

Lets not compare apples to oranges.
