At these prices I don't know how anyone can compete with a farmer.

Military is sooo cheap and food is sooo expensive. I think a I-farmer is making about $700/acre with $60/bushel. R-Cashers are probably making $500/acre after food costs. Indy's are making <$350 after tax :( if they have good tech.

Yep... kinda unsure how to survive/stock as a casher :(

A farmer will win this set.

Seems to be 2 farmers up there now. I missed #210 previously. A Tyranny is at a disadvantage to a Dictator, but at these prices both could make top 5 if they keep growing.

I think top 5 is a hard call now also top 10 a very difficult call. With prices the way they are or are heading cashiers and more so farmers have a great market to play in. The remainder are seriously hurting and cash flow is very low.

Id rather see a farmer win then a cashier again. I know already that us commies are out of the running as well as techers for the win.

Things aren't that great for cashers either. They had a slow start tech wise and now food is expensive. I do agree if there's a good enough farmer then farmer should win but I think it will be competitive between farmer, casher, and commie all up top.

That tyrant farmer will set the new Tyrant record :)

The best finishing farmer last set, oldman was at 41k acres last set at this point. Right now the fattest farmer is closer to 50k.

As a C/I do you just start stocking military at this point? Hopefully you still don't need to get your tech %'s up... You definitely store turns at the very least I would think.

I can't believe how fast tech fell apart. The key for techers isn't just a high peak like the 3k prices we had this set, it's having decent prices after they finish attacking. Here's a good (great actually) tech set:

Prices were never over 3k but they stayed over 2k until the end, til day 52 or so. This set, after an amazing $3200 average for the first 24 days, we crashed under that mark around day 29.

I blame all the smaller tech countries who keep selling tech BELOW THE ASKING PRICE. Are you fluffing stupid or what? When someone has an order up for $1700 and the average tech price for that category is $1800, why on earth would you sell your tech for $1550-$1600? Unless your dumping ungodly amounts of tech on the market (more than what can be sold in a day), you really don't need to undercut the asking price like that..

I know that for myself I still need to spend alot to get my tech levels up. I'm no were near my levels that I need to be at. I also bet most of the other commies still need to raise tech levels also.

I'm just happy that in terms of more production going on the market that you went into a war. The less commies producing now the better for the prices.

Fun fact: 25 countries over 40k. 19 between 20-40k. Taking out the techers only 13 between 20-40k. You really gotta keep up on this server or you get farmed...

BTW herbs maybe next time I play C/I I think I will focus on trying to grab some of the middle sized commies midset I think. Guys like 169, 24, 133, 142 this set. Even if they retal me it might be worth it long term if the grab sets off the usual trigger of 5-6 other grabs from other players. Interesting thought at least...

When your big enough anyone can become a landgrab target in primary. If you can specialize your hits to your building types and not get retalled in the process I think that's a win win and a great idea.

Lol, funny thing is Blid isnt the only one with orders up of that size for food. I suspect at least 4 of the big techers probably have similar orders up as well. Farmers need to ramp up production!

this food market is quite unsustainable at this rate. I'm not sure what's going to happen. People may start to build farms themselves and hence reduce the food demand. Quick analysis of the different strategies in game now:

Techers - The big ones are stocking for a while, they are the one driving the food up probably. Don't see any techer dumping their food stock soon, there're 3 more weeks to go! The smaller techers are probably reaching their land goal and will be joining in the stocking.

Commies - they could start building farms soon and that will reduce the food demand slightly

Cashers - don't see them building farms. With the number of cashers this set greater than last set, I think their only way out is to continue to grab until the end. However, their daily consumption is likely big enough to cause the food price to remain high.

Farmers - well, there're just too few of them. We may see smaller countries converting to farmer to capitalize on the food market.

Overall - I think food price will remain high for the foreseeable future.

But then again, never trust what analysts say =P

I played with the idea of switching from techer to farmer, but as soon as i do that the food will crash, so im staying put :)

Its alot of fkn acres, man, itll take me few days, my BPT is not where i like it to be and thats the main reason as to why i haven't done it, last set i was 100bpt, im half that this set, i had a very slow start due to RL problems so i could not get to my 100bpt goal :(

Converting from techer to farmer now would not be a very smart move. Way way way too late for that, and you are a Demo bud, you don't need to be a farmer to make a killing on this food prices. You should be one of those causing this food prices.

Well, with food sitting at a $199 high for the past 5-6 hours, I am not surprised people jumped on that $68 food price! Better get it while you can, the server may run out of food completely at this rate!
