On 21k that's like 210 turns - less than 4 full days - not too bad. Making 50% profit per unit of military for a few weeks was probably definitely worth it though, especially as a tax-free demo. Property taxes must be through the roof in his country though =P

Probably was a strategic play, based on the poor tech prices (early).

They rebounded and then were quite profitable for primary. At least what I'm told anyway, i'm not very familiar with the primary market.

50% profit? I dont think so, military was already at 120s-130s when he converted.
Tax-free demo? He's Theo.

Someone literally just cleared every single bushel to $77. There's 195m there.

My top 10 predictions may no longer hold true for anyone that had profited from this market anomaly.

What the Dell has NW changes during both buyouts. It seems like enough bushels were purchased for him to actually have finished near the top 10 if he had purchased military units from his private and public markets instead.

What was the most expensive bushel batch sold for?

Xinhuan Game profile

Member
3728

Sep 3rd 2014, 4:18:25

70m bushels at $48
42m bushels at $42
And over 200m at $40.
And about 300-400m at $38-39.

The $48 batch took several decreasing sales volume, indicating that it is probable that the buyer in turn sold to his PM to generate the money to repeat the process. In fact, the numbers match.

7,691,036 bushels --> 5,768,277 --> 4,326,208 --> 3,244,656 --> 2,433,492 --> 1,825,119 --> 1,368,839 --> 1,026,629

With each purchase having the ratio $36/$48 of the previous purchase.

I dont think anyone had the purchasing power to buyout the 400mil bushels on their own, so it's either a couple of countries or someone blew their entire stock on bushels which cost probably around what? $16B ?

@eManny All that food bought was sold to PM at $36 to buyout more food, so the buyer didn't really need 16b cash. 10b would be enough. Also, it has to be a Demo, because of the $36/$48 matching math calculations. So, all matching evidence points to What the Dell as the only Demo that has NW changes during the buyout.

10b?

I would only need 2b to clear that.

4b actually!

The geometric sum of 0.75^0 + 0.75^1 + 0.75^2 + 0.75^3 + .... is equal to 4.

So you need 4b cash to buyout 16b worth of food, lose 1/4 cash value every time, if all food was $48. Since the majority of the food was less than 48, he probably only needed 3b cash.

Was bored and wanted to try something new. It was a gamble for very high food price when I destock (prices did go up to $65 for a couple of hours and I was optimistic, at that point of time). If I had won the bet, I would have had a shot at winning. It never did turn out the way I expect, I sold my food for ~$46 average.

This is amusing, Ive pulled this stunt in express and as long as the 1-2 other big farmers dont screw you it works well. I like to buy low sell high tuck is to not flood the market so people dont panic.

I think he's just liquidating food, not trying to resell. I don't think he'd have the money to buy out the market if he was trying to resell.

problem with gaming food this late in the set is that you have to go have lots of cash on hand to buyout meaning you've lost tons of money on corruption, and even if you buy at 37 and sell at like 45 it is debatable if it's even worth it compared to dumping on private once you've used all your turns on last day even if its only for $35. Not to mention that you have to have a large private market to be able to use the cash, otherwise you run the risk of further diminished return by purchasing expensive goods on the public market. It doesnt make sense to cash to like 8B cash then buy at $37 and sell because you've already lost significant value from the corruption... I'm pretty sure I did the calc once.
