-Should I stay techer all the way till end or drop land and convert to mb to buy from my private?
My end game is where I struggle a lot, last set I should have easily made it past 100m NW and didn't because of stupid mistakes made during a few logins where I rushed myself instead of taking the proper time :-(
All advice will be appreciated, thank you!
65 bpt is a big problem. Its too late to build more CS now, DO NOT BUILD MORE CS NOW, but its going to stop you from greatness 100% of the time.
Theo has a 40% bpt bonus which people think all wrong about. Most people think; 'ahh great that means I go to the same bpt but just need fewer CS to get there' or 'ahh, so I get the same amount of CS but just build 40% faster' which are both wrong. The truth is somewhere in the middle of that.
That said your bpt is far from optimal and as a techer you should build all your CS early, before teching or 'switching' to techer preferably.
You cant know what acreage you will end up with but having a goal close to what you will end up is extremely important because it should guide how many CS you should build, which is one of the more important choices in any reset for any strategy - mostly for techers but also very important for other strats.
'Turn optimal BPTs', which is what the formulas that circle around these forums calculate, are often misunderstood as either;
a) the BPT I should have at a certain acreage
OR
b) the BPT I should aim for a certain landgoal.
Now 'b' is close to the truth for techer, less so for other strats on most servers. In fact the optimal bpt you calculate is the bpt you should build up to if you wish to build a certain amount of buildings. Important here is that it excludes the buildings we already have, and the buildings we will capture in grabs (assuming they are of the right kind).
Since people dont like formulas I'll just post a few results of them, for non-dict, non-theo govts:
Buildings left to build -> Turn optimal BPT
10000 -> 50
14400 -> 60
19600 -> 70
25600 -> 80
32400 -> 90
40000 -> 100
48400 -> 110
Now as I said most people interpret this wrong. So lets take an example to clear this up:
You are a 10k acre fully built indy, with 55 bpt, and you want to aim for 30k acres. How many CS should you build up to to build those CS+IC remaining in the least amount of turns?
Well you already have 10k ICs, and you want another 20k if your set goes as planned, so you need around 70 bpt which is turn optimal for building about 19600 ICs. perhaps if you know you will grab a lot of indies you would go lower bpt than that, and perhaps if you assume you will trade hits with players you would go noticeably higher than 70 (I dont know why you would try to be optimal in doing something that is very suboptimal tho).
Your problem, specifically this set, is that you choose a bpt that is optimal for an 18k acre techer, or if you are a theocracy a bpt that is optimal for a 12k acre techer. You are going to exceed that by a huge margin. And so you choose the wrong bpt. Again, most people will read this as an urging to build CS, and if you do it means you didn't read and understand any of what I just wrote.
DO NOT BUILD MORE CS.
