The fact is sirdog, is that people look for land wherver they find it.

My advice: best defense is good offense. If you start retalling hits successfully, people will be reluctant to hit you. This is a game where people take every advantage they see/find/create for themsevles. Playing passive with "don't hit me, I don't hit you" mentality won't work.

Just to let you know sirdog, the explore returns at this point in the set are down to the single digits.

While some are all explore or self-farm, some grab for land.

Playing in one's own tag has its advantages and dis-advantages.

People that play in a group under a tag, have pacts with other tags which preclude land grabs between the tags.

If you were in one of the groups, your countries would be sheltered from grabs from some if not most of the larger groups.

Playing solo has the dis-advantage of not having many pacts with the larger groups.

If you chose to play solo, you have to run a defense oriented government and build your country with that in mind.

Let me rephrase that.

At this point in the set, most players with a decent amount of land have run into a diminishing explore rate and have to look around for other means of acquiring more land which includes land grabs.

Time for you to consider joining one of the groups.........just a suggestion.

I'll add on to what Fiat brought up.

If you play in your own tag, generally the big clans won't abuse you, but they will likely still test you. What I mean by this is: Most of us are respectful enough that we don't just beat you down with numbers to the point where you can't possibly fight back. However, that doesn't mean they won't landgrab you.

Standard and Planned Strikes are considered non-aggressive attacks in the sense that they're trying to get land. They're not necessarily trying to hurt YOU, but benefit themselves. Standard policy that pretty much everyone follows on this server is that if you get land-grabbed, you get to retal 1:1 with no further aggression or escalation.

But this is how people will see it: They grab you, you don't retal (or you retal poorly), then they know they can come back to you every few days and get some more free land.

If you want to find success as a solo tag, asking for DNH's is a great idea, but it isn't enough. You have to show people that you can defend yourself. Make one of your countries a "retal" country. Don't do any grabs with it, only retals.

If you show you have some talent, can retal, and aren't a loose cannon who's likely to lash out over normal grabbing, then people will respect you and leave you alone.

You simply retal, its not hard to do an attack back, very few people will kill you for doing legit retals, when you start doing special attacks or hitting people that didn't hit you, is when their crew gets involved and own you

I also want to point out that you don't need to resort to special attacks beyond a retal.

Not every player is helpless without his "BIG O Crew". Some can take care of issues like you describe by themselves.

The other benefit of being in a group is getting tutoring related to the server and how to better "play" or build your countries.

I know "the Porn Guy" pretty well .........send him an in-game message to his country and he might be willing to give you some advice.

Hit 'em back, dude. It's really that simple. They won't hit you if they know you will hit them back hard. Bulk up your offensive capability, most of the large tags have fluffty defense anyway.

Just use an SS or PS and you should be fine, be sure to send a message after the hit(s) that it was a retal, and you should be fine. Simple as that.

What ever you choose to do from that point on is up to you - if you want a clear unbiased opinion on what you should do I suguest you contact warster or twain. I for one am not a fan of repeating my self or other's over and over again.

SirDog the only thing i have to add to this conversation is to talk to the guy who ran the SAS string. Every time that i tried to grab that dude he embarrassed me with his retals. That is how you get people to stop grabbing you.

Okay, let me try to explain what Crippler was saying.

If ICD hits you with country A. You have the right to retal country A with any country you have that's in the same tag/alliance, or with the original country if you're untagged. (within 72 hours)

If you hit a different ICD country (country B), that's not a retal, but a landgrab. It's not that you're not allowed to do this, but that it isn't considered a retal, but rather a new case. So if that happens, then you're still entitled to retal country A, but ICD would be entitled to hit the country you used to hit country B.

Crippler wasn't (at least I don't believe he was) making a threat about you land-grabbing them. He WAS saying (again, I believe, anyway) that you can't grab whoever you want and consider it a retal, so if your hits on ICD were meant to be retals, and they were just on random countries, you're gonna get yourself in trouble.

Ultimately, this is a clan/alliance server. We're fairly kind to individual players, but the big clans still hold power. You might think it's unfair that a 200 country alliance can push you around, but I would counter with: None of the big clans care if you think it's unfair. The big clans could easily just farm every one-man tag out of the game, but we don't because we know it'd be a fluff move. But trying to take advantage and think you're on equal terms takes away any purpose of playing in an alliance, and then we've basically just turned FFA into a 16-country per person primary server, which was not the intention. Don't like it? Join an alliance or recruit people and make one.

that's the reason why pacts are needed...you need to remain small to reduce expenses but at same time need maintain enough defense to deter people from hitting you and also must have retal capability if you get hit.

i posted a thread requesting a dnh with everybody. i never landgrabbed anybody but i do my best to retal and so far i have.

i've come to the conclusion that even if you do what the ffa community asks so you won't get biasedly hit that you will still get douches hitting you that are too big or they jump after the landgrab.

they can't keep it fair and stay the same networth because they fear they might lose the land they recently acquired or more.
