it's not enough. They should have the wins and titles taken from them too.

In 20, 30, 50+ years, no one is going to care about the cheating, or even know about it. All they'll know is how many rings they have.

As for the "beating women" etc...while I agree that those are bad things and possibly hurt the "image" that the NFL would like to present, they have no direct impact on any game being played, unlike underinflating game balls to allow for better grip making it less likely for a fumble, allowing the RB to confidently run the ball better, thus opening the pass game more, which in turn, also opens the running game more.

And I personally don't see how losing a draft pick will matter. Many drafted players are worthless, and the Pats can simply just make trades to get who they want. Maybe they should be hit by reducing their salary cap for a couple seasons, making it harder for them to retain top players for those couple seasons. I think that would make more of in impact to teams, to maybe prevent future cheating.

Even if every clan uses this as their retal policy, Imag has the right to not recognize it and to kill a country that breaks Imags own policy.

The issue here is if a pact was negotiated between the two clans. If so, whomever broke the pact owes some type of payment. If not, then war over it and work it out.

The two things you listed here have absolutely nothing to do with each other. Secondly, I didn't desert anyone. I'm still here, for now, but planning to be completely done soon as this war is over, which it basically is, due in part to the broken war terms.

Hitting Rage prior to our FS was a low blow. We weren't ready to war. This is not whining. This is just simply stating the facts. If we were not in a planned war, I would have no problem with what happened. Then it would have been our own fault for running countries with no defense. But that was not the case here.

As for my opinion about game mechanics...well, apparently I'm not the only person who feels this way.

Sov,

I'm a fighter, not a netter, and I am one who would prefer a change.

Also, you posted an awful lot about how slowing down the kills would make it impossible to get a kill, due to the wallers. It IS possible to code in a change that makes it a bit harder to recoup after a run has been done to you. If this was also implemented, then kills would not be impossible, but they could take a bit longer, allowing for the fun of walling. I explained more in a previous post. You should read that one.

ford,

You've never seen me threaten to quit before, because I've never done it.

When I threatened to not hit, during that war, that was because we were using your chatroom for the war and you kicked me. And I followed through with my "threat" to not be part of that war anymore, until you apologized for kicking me. Whether you meant it or not does not matter to me. You apologized in what seemed like a sincere manner. You can feel that you manipulated me all you want, but it does not matter.

As for this. This is not a threat either. I have no intention of playing anymore after this set. The game just is not fun for me anymore. I stated the reasons why. I have given this game 3 or 4 sets of trying different things, in an attempt to have fun, but none of them worked.

I have enjoyed the game, and the people, in the past. There are still some people I enjoy here, but it's just not worth it anymore.

aponic...that is an idea, but then you gotta go through all the trouble of figuring out who should self delete, and then hear the whining from both sides about whether those three were the right three, etc.

I think two things need to happen.

As was said above, people want to be able to stonewall and most cannot if only given 30 seconds (props to the few who can...they are gods among us). People also hate leaving a chat after attacking 2 or 3 stonewallers and not getting the kill, since, usually this means the defender will be able to nearly fully rebuild, making the kr a waste of turns and time.

So, a possible solution: Figure out a curve. Damage goes down based on number of hit recently received. As time goes, Damage goes back up.

Make this curve work so that a kill done in 1 second would take 1000 hits and a kill done in 5 minutes would take 200 hits.

This gives the defender a chance to stonewall. Of course, this also means almost noone would ever get killed.

So, change the pop gain formula. Right now, it's way to easy to regain pop, as people flood back into your country when you play a few turns. Maybe, if the country took a hit within the past 1 minute, pop returns are halved (or something like this). This way, have a constant rush of hits would make it harder to regain back to full.

All of this would need to be tested and tweaked to find the right amount of each side, but implementing both should make warring much more fun for everyone.

Look there were mistakes made and owned up to, not dirty tactics. I offered to make it right, something even SoF leadership will say I am accountable for, and you told me to fluff off. I don't have much sympathy.

The community is what you make of it man. Our chat rooms have been full all reset, and busy even between warchats, if yours aren't, perhaps you need to change things up, or hang out with your allies. I know having a 10 member quasi netting/warring tag isn't easy to keep busy in irc, gotta find things to keep together.

ok, let's clear this one up. The original terms were LaF vs MD. One of these two clans would get the FS. ALL other clans were supposed to wait for 24 hours before entering the war. They would all be given up to 72 hours after the original FS before they were open to being hit.

This changed because MD was so small compared to LaF. LaF allowed SoL and Stones to come in immediately (not have to wait the 24 hours).

You decided to hit Rage a day early. Then you asked why some of us had no defense. Because we were under protection of the terms of this war and the pacts we signed. We didn't need defense.

Sure, you asked if you could do something to fix it. How the fluff do you think you can fix it? You can't give us back the 3 countries you killed. And I don't see anything that would be comparable.

Furthermore, this is the second time that SoL screwed Rage in an arranged "friendly" war. I tried to let the first time go, under the premise that it truly was a miscommunication. And I still believe this could be true. But this second time...no. There is no way that I can believe this was due to bad communication. It just seems like a tactic to give yourself an advantage.

he usually calms down in a week. give him time.

The target selection was massively sad during that war. And you should never kick a player from the chat for voicing their displeasure. I was not a leader at that time. And I wasn't the one who started that particular conversation. I just added my thoughts. I believe you even admitted to me that you were having a bad night and you apologized for kicking me.

I gave it a go, but it's time for me to leave. When I came back last year, there was a lot of hate going on, but there was change being worked on too. Unfortunately, that change didn't actually happen.

Back in 2001, one of the best things about this game was being able to stonewall. That's impossible now and clearly, it's not being worked on.

I enjoyed war, even when it was a slaughter against me, because I knew I'd have a chance to get back at someone the next set. Not so now. This game is geared heavily towards netting and a large active clan. Unfortunately, most of the players in the game aren't so active.

The most fun I used to have was hanging out in the chatrooms all day and night. Now, i can spend several days and never see anyone talking.

So, it's time for me to move on. Maybe I'll give it another go if you ever make an app, with some graphics, something that would actually entice new players to stick around. Sorry, I cannot help, as I'm not a graphics person, or I would have offered.

To some of you...it's been fun. I wish you the best. To others, suck it. I'll still hang out in IRC for a while, if anyone does want to chat.

I'm not sure who will take over as the new Rage Pres, but FDF and Garry Owen will be the main contacts for now.

I like the idea of adding to the strats, however, that is NOT what this game needs.

The reason this game did well for a long time was because new people kept joining. This is a text based game, which means almost no new players, ever. The people who do decide to give it a try have a bunch of hurdles, like qz said: such as, getting farmed because they aren't in a clan, instead of being invited to a clan and taught how to play; figuring out what server to join; etc.

What this game needs is two things: 1) an app, preferably one with some graphics, even if they are extremely basic, 2) a facebook interface, again, with some graphics.

When I ran my game, I put it on facebook. Now, I didn't integrate it, I just made it playable through facebook. Also, my game had no graphics. During the first weekend on facebook, my game was listed on a new games list and I got a few hundred new players during the weekend. My game was very hard for new players to figure out, so people would join and quit, all in the same day.

So, if EE was fixed up, with some graphics, and launched both an app and a facebook presence, we should easily see growth.

It's the people and the socializing that have made this game fun for me. Also, the programming. I learned to program because of the clan forums, and the irc chat rooms. I don't know of any other game that allows the players to have such interaction with the game.

I just wish we could get some people who want to code graphics for the game, as a hobby, or a learning project, or whatever...but just do it. The mechanics are good enough, we just need a way to entice people to try the game and stick with it for a little while.

They have this problem is the city near my house. Comcast told the city council that if they allowed FiOS TV, then comcast would move all their employees out of the city, which means they wouldn't have to pay the city tax. So FiOS customers inside the city limits are only able to get internet and phone. Just one more reason I'll never move within the city limits.

Trust me, if Verizon was allowed to provide FiOS TV to you, they would. It's not their preference to use Direct TV.

I became a Verizon cell phone customer in 2003 and as soon as Verizon FiOS was available in my neighborhood (2009), I signed up.

Back in Dec, verizon gave me HBO for 3 months for free, without me asking for it. It's now been 5 months and they haven't taken it away.

So, if the Hot Tub Time Machine won't allow you to travel into the future, then go into the past and become a loyal verizon customer and maybe they will give you HBO for free, like me.

(on another note)...last year, I rented an apartment for a few months, which meant I needed cable. Unfortunately, Comcast was the only available choice. Fortunately, HBO came with the package we got and they had all 4 seasons available on demand.

So yeah, basically, either pay for HBO, pirate it, or go to a friends house and make a party of Sunday nights for a few months.

What I don't like is that he was found guilty based on "he said/she said".

I'm certainly not condoning it, if he did it, but the Family court judge David Jones issued a report on his findings and concluded that there was “preponderance of evidence” that Busch committed an “act of domestic violence.”

What was this "preponderance of evidence"? Was there an actual witness? Was there at least someone who saw his girlfriend right after the incident who testified that they saw the bruises or marks, or whatever? Was there a series of "incidences" that led up to this to show he has a history of this behavior?

I don't know the full story, so I have to trust that the court investigated his past, along with this specific incident to find enough evidence to say he is guilty.

farmer, I do agree with you, however, a normal line worker doesn't represent a company in the public eye. Famous people, who are made famous because they are part of a professional sport, do represent that sport. So, that sport management has the right to take that person out of the public eye.

I do like that NASCAR waited until he was found guilty before they acted. Although, he shouldn't be suspended indefinitely. He should be made to make some public reparations, like anger management classes, give some public appearances at anti-domestic abuse rallies, that sort of thing, along with a short suspension until these other things are completed.

I just had two companies come to my house and give me estimates. I live in Delaware. The companies are Solar City and Sungevity.

Over the past few years I've been looking into getting solar panels, but it seems the payoff for buying them is about 15 to 20 years.

These two companies have come up with a leasing deal. Basically, they put the solar panels on your house and they own the panels. They take care of all the maintenance.

As the homeowner, you purchase the electricity from them for a fixed price (set for 20 years). They guarantee how much savings you will have vs. the electric company.

The only problem I had was that I plan to move within the next couple years and I didn't want to lock into a deal for 20 years that could (very low chance, but it's still a chance) prevent me from moving. After I move, I will most likely get solar on my new home from one of these companies.

ford, once again, you missed what the other person was saying and continued to argue only your point.

Yes, you are correct that measles causes more than just death. But we are not talking about ONLY measles here.

Your argument is that people should be required by the government to get any vaccine that the government deems necessary.

Our argument is that people should have a choice.

Hawkster pointed out that there is a vaccine (I believe in the works, or being talked about) for hay fever. This vaccine does not save lives, as hay fever does not kill. But, once you give the government control to require vaccines, there is no stopping them.

So, once Bush Jr. Jr. takes office and has big pharma putting money in his pocket, next thing you know, our kids will be forced to get the hay fever vaccine.

Let's not give the government more control than they already have.

NOTE: I hope you understand my reference to Bush jr jr as being any politician who is easily bought.

That was too easy. Only one person actually picked up on it.

I've grown tired of debating this, since clearly, no one on either side of this debate is willing to see the other persons side.

Of course, I should know by now. I don't believe I've ever seen a debate about anything where people were actually persuaded to agree with the other side. I think it comes down to...debates are pointless. Let's just wait for the powers to be to actually have a vote on it and then see if we can persuade them to vote how we wish. Then we'll just have to live life according to that outcome, until it gets changed.

This means that I currently win, since current law agrees with me. ;)
