Real democracies are just mob rule. Democratically Elected Republics are like the Sheriffs of the wild west; they will keep most mobs away, over-all they are good, but like any govt system they arent perfect.

I'm still not a huge fan of Trump, but one promise I'm glad to see he seems to be taking seriously is the repeal of the "Affordable" (lol) Care Act. Getting rid of that is not "Taking away healthcare"... it is restoring the freedom of people to CHOOSE how they want to handle those expenses. We already had systems to handle medical care for the poor. They weren't perfect, but they were far better than the so called solution we got in 2009. We didn't need a bill forcing everybody to carry coverage they don't want and have no use for. We didn't need the Commucrat party doubling or tripling everyone's premiums. Obamacare hurt FAR more people than it helped. Worse than the financial damage it did though is the assault on individual liberty. Every one of our "representatives" who voted for it should have been charged with treason.

Its no secret that 18% of Americans are clueless when it comes to politics. I'd put the number quite a bit higher than that, actually. Look how many will keep voting in senators and representatives who favor Federal overreach on issues that are already handled at the state level. Politicians (from both teams) in the Federal Government have run up a debt that works out to over $160,000 per US tax payer. Every tax payer is on the hook for enough money to buy my house 1.25 times. Yet we keep reelecting these lying, dishonorable thieves over and over again.

Take healthcare away- Check - Conjecture
Allow torture again- Check - True, but would't you if your daughter was about to be decapitated? Wouldn't you do anything and everything in your power to save her?
Respond to SNL more- check - The Admin is definitely a little thin skinned about SNL. They are pretty funny skits.
Let coal mines dump waste in rivers again- check - Conjecture
Can sell guns to severely mentally ill- Check - Talk to the Democrats and HIPPA about that one. Vermont - barely any gun laws, barely any crime. Liberal Chicago, can't own a BB Gun and crime out the A$$ on an hourly basis- abhorrent, but that's Democratic management for you.
Eliminate separation of church and state- Pending - "I pledge Allegience to the Flag, an the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation Under God....." What's the wrong with this?
Oil companies don't need to report bribes from 3rd world dictators- Check - The U.S. should basically threaten any 3rd world dictator with prolonged and agonizing death unless the animal does our bidding.
Financial advisors don't have to act in the best interest of clients anymore- Check- Conjecture

Take healthcare away- Most likely

Allow torture again - yer daughter is more likely to set her clothes on fire and die from that then a terrorist attack, i say we torture all clothes manufacturers too, also i dont think your smart enough to be allowed to have kids

Let coal mines dump waste in rivers again- perhaps not but definately allow more chemicals/bad for the nature stuff because stupid people think its good for the economy while other nations are reaping dough producing green tech stuff

Can sell guns to severely mentally ill - stats show that if yer getting robbed yer safer without a gun then with a gun, only republicans are stupid enough not to believe statistics

Eliminate separation of church and state - what god do you refer to? do you have any scientific studies showing that there actually is a god?

Financial advisors don't have to act in the best interest of clients anymore- sweet more financial criseses!

Two choices, pick one:

Choice A. Hi Robber. My name is Ivan. I don't have a gun so I can't defend myself, nor can I defend my family. Please come on in and take whatever you want and while you're at it, please treat me and my family like they treated Dr. Petit's family in CT. Once you're done raping and brutalizing my family, please feel free to kill us all. Don't forget to light our house on fire to cover your tracks. Good to speak with you while my jaw still works, glad you came by - by all means, have your way with us.

Choice B. Hi Robber. You picked the wrong house to rob. You have come here to do harm to me and my family. Why else would you be here? Unfortunately for you, I'm not a sheep. I'm a Wolf.

Um, what?

This statement confuses me on many levels.

1) I don't understand how it relates to anything I've said in this thread. Why was I specifically addressed?

2) Unless I'm mistaken, the closest The Constitution comes to mentioning the separation of church and state is "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..."

3) Again, unless I'm mistaken, nowhere in The Constitution is there any prohibition against churches or their leaders engaging in political discourse. Its the other way around. The Federal Government is prohibited from interfering with the religious beliefs / expression of citizens. This is one of the many reasons that Obamacare was such a travesty, IMO. It attempted to force people of faith to violate their beliefs in order to comply with a decree from our rulers.. I mean representatives.

The founders of the US were concerned with protecting the church (any church) from the state. Not the other way around.

I can't bring a bottle of water through security anymore, I need to take my shoes off and have them scanned. There's a multi-multi-billion dollar department created to stop the same kind of 9/11 stuff from happening again.

There are roughly 10x the number of deaths from guns per YEAR than there were on 9/11, yet any discussions about gun regulations or safety are rejected by the stupid logic of "why not ban knives or hands?!?!?! dur hur".

The level of discourse in the US is absolutely appalling. It's blatant hypocrisy wrapped in straw man arguments.
OMG, where to begin. This is wrong on so many levels.

Are you seriously trying to compare 1 day/incident to a whole year?

The 10x is technically correct, however trying to take total number of deaths via one cause (guns) and comparing it to another action such as violence is level of appalling discourse in of itself. You might as well said the number of deaths from autos per YEAR than there were on 9/11. It has no relevancy at all and is a poor comparison. The vast majority of the 33k deaths due to guns is suicide. Even if you assume that the remaining deaths via guns are all of violent nature (which it isnt) that would make it more 4x the number of violent deaths from guns per YEAR than there were on 9/11. (12k vs 3k). While this would be more accurate comparison, it is still wrong due to stated above, whole year compared to one day. A more realistic number would be 3x btw and imho that is not very much when you are attempting to compare whole years worth.

IF you do insist on keeping whole number of deaths via guns, since vast majority as I said are suicides, this actually makes the "why not ban knives or hands?!?!?! dur hur" statement relevant. Once someone has gone through the process or has reached state of no longer wanting to live, they are going to end their life no matter what. If they had no access to a gun, they will find some other method, such as knives, ropes, gas inhalation, pills etc. Banning a gun will not stop it, you would need to ban every other method used and is a stupid reason to even suggest banning guns. Hence the stupid question asking about banning other things. Guns is not the issue, so attempting to ban something that is not cause or reason for such actions is yes stupid, how about addressing the real problem(s) such as mostly kids with issues/problems as well as other reasons why the number of adults are wanting to commit suicide.

For the record, violent deaths in the US has steadily been decreasing every year since long before 9/11. This is true for violent deaths via guns as well.

Technically guess no one, just that you inferred it with your quoted statement about banning knifes etc .. that is usually when I hear such statement anyway are when someone is talking about banning guns. So sorry, yes you did not actually say that and was my mistake.

However, if you think my pointing out all the illogical comparisons you made is not convincing, than is no point talking further. I am obviously not replying to someone with an open mind and knows how to debate much. Keep trying to compare apples to oranges I guess and good luck with it.

I don't see what the big deal is about guns, I mean in the end we are all going to be dead anyway might as well live a little before that happens. But the most important reason not to have gun control is that so you can over throw the government should the need arise. Anyway even if you ban guns you are just going to leave good people defenseless because criminals don't follow the law in the first place. So let's just not have any gun control and focus on limiting the size of the government so that it is not tyrannical.
